Hi,
Just thought id share this with you. Bought a 2000 Seat Ibiza 1400cc Cool/S 4 months ago, its a cracking little motor. I noticed a spec of blue paint on the rear of the passenger seat and blue spray on the headlining few weeks ago, and after taking some of the plastic cowling off i found more. I'm 100% sure none of it was there when i initially went to view the car, and i believe its been done while i was waiting to pick it up. What do you think?

sorry, i can't post links to pictures because i've not posted 15 times

cheers

Sounds a bit strange do one of those £3 car checks see if its been in any crashes you might of missed the paint when viewing. other that that theres not much you can do really.

yeah i know, i should of done one before i bought it, one of them spur of the moment cars..

Cheers Robbie. If i'd of known what i know about the dealer now i wouldn't of gone within 50 miles of the place

Well its one of two things, either its had some touch up work done (stone chips, rust..etc) or its accident repair.

Do all the panels line up properly?

Get in touch with the dealer, ask them if they have done anything or if they have done any HPI checks on the car.

Are the pictures from the same door? Is it driver side? Can you see any damage under neath? Also, just noticed in the first picture a bit of masking tape on the left???

I'd pull both seals off and check underneath. Weirdly, that looks like its been over sprayed from the inside which could be to hide rust or the fact its two cars :D

Get a magnet over it to find any serious rust (rust isn't magnetic, so it wont stick to it).

Yeah both pics are the same side, the only interesting visible thing is the spray, nothing in the way of damage/rust under the plastic cowling. Done a HPI and all is clear, so i'm not that worried

cheers 4 your replies, there's not alot i can do about it now anyway, its a lovely little motor apart from that

Agree with the above, hpi checks and the like aren't worth the paper they're written on 9 times out of 10.

If you bought it from a dealer, then surely you could go back and enquire about it?

By the looks of it, I'd say it's more than likely a cover up of rust rather than an accident maybe?

its strange, the car itself is straight as a die, no signs of a re-spray and no rust anywhere outside, just the overspray under the plastic

It was bought from a dealer, a very very dodgy dealer, like i said before if id have known then what i know now (from talking to other people who have delt with them) i wouldn't of gone within 100 yards of the place
