My mk2 had an aftermarket back box when I bought it, made abit too much racket so when it fell off I reverted back to standard...much better! At the end of the day I see it as money that could go on something alot better, it isnt really gonna give you a power increase.

so what would you recommend for a mk2?
rear spacers, standard drilled airbox with air feed but what panel filter? anything else?
im going to get 16 or 17" alloys and drop it for sure though as well as some hids

You could be asing the wrong person that kind of question

In my opinion I would keep the standard exhaust system, tailpipes hidden and it makes a decent noise for standard. Rear spacers are a good idea, helps the handling and looks better. Standard airbox if you can find one, but if your current airfilters clean and isnt sucking in hot air I cant see it doing much harm. Give it a good service and make sure its running sweet!

and then put some coilovers on, some nice oem 16's and slam it on its ar$e :D

You will love it!!!
Comp MO's will suit it but then Im biased :p

it is growing on me slowly
do people have issuses with tyres rubbing etc when lowered on 17s.just wondered if it would be best to go for 16s to be safe
your comps do suit it well

mine is on 17s and lowered on spax suspension 40mm all round no rubbing issues on mine :)

mods are as well on mine ss exhaust system k and n air filter lightened pulley and kent cam and a adjustable fuel pressure reg :) :) btw mine is the 2.0 8 valve unit

As for the exhaust i would recommend a 1.8 20v T mk3 exhaust. Not the Im biased or anything :p

Personally I wouldn't go for 17's, alot of people say they spoil the ride etc. 16's are the best to go for. Hence why Im looking for a set of 16's.

any idea how low you can go on 16s and 17s?
looking to get either a 40/40 or 60/40 lowering kit

Personally i would go for 60/40. Thats what ive got on my car. Only reason i went for 60 at the front is that the front is set higher than the back at standard so the 60mm drop makes the car level. Still gives plenty of clearance etc. Im on 15's just now but I'm upgrading to 16's in the future.

17s lowered 50mm all round

Here is mine when on 16" 7j and et37 drop 60/40 with no scrubbing at all

could you have passengers in the back without problems?
i take it you didnt have any problems at all at the front?how about if you hit a big bump?was it ok on full lock aswell?
