I bought a Leon a couple of months ago and am now starting to see that maybe she isn't quite normal. I've insured her as an SE but now thinking she could possibly be an S
I couldn't get the time off work to go buy it, so I sent my Dad in my place, and he was pretty bad at remembering the details the bloke selling said (and the bloke sounded like he wasn't too clued up on the car tbh), so I'm in the dark!

It's an X reg (2001 I believe). I have good reason to suspect it's imported (possibly France, due to the french number plate I found in the boot  ) but is still RHD. It has 1.6 16v written on the engine cover, it has climate control, 6CD, heated (beige) elec-leather seats, rear electric windows, folding mirrors, etc.

Searches for the number plate on insurance websites, eurocarparts etc. bring up no results. Plate checking text services bring up Seat Signo, which matches the registration certificate.

I'd be comfortable betting the seats and other beige leather bits of interior were fitted at a later stage, not only because of the fact I don't think it was an option on the 1.6, but also because I keep finding random barcode stickers on parts of my interior!

Can anyone help me shed some light on this please?

I may be wrong but it sounds like yours is either the se or sx think the sx has climate control and se is aircon so think you have the sx as you also have 4 electric windows. The 's' model has front electric windows and no aircon or climate control.
Hope this helped

Both SE and SX have climate control.

The SX didn't come in til 2004 I think.

Sounds like an SE. Does it have fogs?

Yeah it does have fogs. Noticed on Parkers that 1.6 16v SE were only made in 2000 but equally mine was registered on 1/1/01 so I guess that would tie in with the import idea.

Save starting another thread, my mirror adjustors are intermittent and the lights for the dash sometimes flicker but I can't seem to find what external factor is changing to cause this to happen. I've replaced the switch for the mirrors but the problem still persists. Sometimes it folds them in a sometimes it doesn't. Also, that hilarious unique "feature" that the Leons do where the left mirror adjusts both mirrors, sometimes I get that happening on both switch-left and switch-right, making it 100% impossible to adjust the mirrors independent of each other. Also the heated mirror on the O/S doesn't heat either.
These may be totally unconnected but I'm a bit of a car n00b.

I've insured it as a 1.6 16v SE and gave them my number plate. They didn't seem to complain about the fact the number plate didn't bring up any results. I would assume because of the extra stuff that the SE is more to insure than the S (I may be wrong on that one though), so hopefully if I did need to claim and I had over-insured it they wouldn't invalidate the policy... Hopefully.
