I have used the search function on here, and it has thrown up nothing. It is such a common problem that there is either a problem with the search function, or , more likely, that I haven't used it properly.
In my old R32 I started getting a nasty smell through the air conditioning. Similar to a wet dog, or wet towels that have been left to sweat for a few weeks. Nasty.
I changed the pollen filter, and all was well after a week or so, once it all all blown through the pipework.
I got the same smell in my MK1 Leon TDi a couple of months ago.
A new pollen filter has helped, but it has not got rid of the smell totally like in my old golf.
On engine start up, it smells bad. If the air con is on, then the smell goes away...
...but turn the air con off and the smell returns.
I don't use the air con all the time, so I want to clear this smell if I am just using the blowers without the air con switched on.
Can anyone suggest a remedy?
I know there are these cans that you can open in the car, and allow the air con to circulate, but I have used them before and wasn't impressed.
Any ideas?
