I gathered that, was just thinking it through haha.

I had a humming, almost wheel bearing like, when my Bridgestone tyres were completely shot cos they went out of shape.

I'm not a clever person when it comes to cars I asked for help and this is what I get

What do u mean?

You have told us that you have 18" tyres on 17" wheels.

What else do you expect us to say?

Maybe upload a pic, that might help

You need to find out for definite if they are 17 or 18" alloys

When I first had them on they made a bad humming noise so I rang them up and told them they said bring it back today, so today I took it back and they changed 2 tyres for new ones, the humming as slightly reduced, but now I'm getting a shake at any speed is this due to having low profile tyres?

No matter what size you have, the fact remains that they are a cheap tyre. There is a reason why cheap tyres are cheap and expensive ones, well, expensive. It would appear you have discovered one of the reasons they are cheap.
I would suggest you get them checked at a reputable tyre dealer (not the one who supplied them) in addition to the balancing ( which sounds like its out) I would get them to check that the speed rating and load index of the tyres you have is correct for your vehicle. If either is incorrect you are taking a very big risk both financially and physically.

You shouldn't have any sort of humming, vibration or shake at any speed if your tyres are correct and been balanced properly.

If you're 100% on your alloys being 17 but you say the tyre size is 225/40/18 then yes, you have the incorrect tyre size fitted. You should have 225/45/17

Ok so just take them to somewhere like formula 1 or big city tyres in nottingham

Like the post above says if they are 17s with 225/40/18 tyres then they will fall off so my guess is there 18s
