New boots for my FR!

After 12000 miles of mostly motorway miles my p6000s have hit the legal limit in the centre of the tyre . they still have 3mm on the edges but Mr Tyrebloke says it is quite common for P6000's to wear quicker in the middle (my first thoughts were they were over inflated but have I checked them on various occasions)

So anyway just arranged to have a pair of Dunlop 9000's fitted for £177.43, thumbs up to Bathwick Tyres

Now just to wear out the other pair of P6000s.

have been phoning round for a quote on some new tyres for mine today too, can get either Eagle F1's (£92/corner fitted) or conti sportcontact2 (£94/corner fitted.

have managed 16k on the RE040 Bridgestones

I haven't had experience of either but I'm told the F1s wear quickly but this is the sacrifice for grip.

i had the same issue with the p6000, i went for goodyear eagle f1s in the end, brilliant tyre

Completely different car but the factory-fit Conti SportContacts on my Passat PD130 sport lasted 33K miles on the front and 40K rear.

Excellent value and grip and handling pretty good. The Vredestein Ultracs that I replaced them with will be shot in half the mileage and understeer more :grr:

I had Sportcontacts on mine as standard and they understeered quite a lot, but got 20k from the fronts. Just popped F1s on and the grip is definitely better, but they initially were noisier than the Contis. Got mine fitted for £92 each off mytyres, and as this is a sponsored link for SCN they benefited too!

People seem to rate Toyo Proxes as highly as the F1s - the latest T1-Rs are supposed to have improved wear rates over the T1-S before.

Got T1-Rs on the Passat now but TBH I don't really push it that hard to test them to the limit....

Clifford's nearly 22k now, still got good tread al round.

My V6 Mondeo ate front tyres in no time, but this was due to front axle weight and traction control, meaning i could attack roundabouts at 70mph

I've done 35k in the peugeot (30k+ done in 10 months) and only changed 1 set of tyres, 1 of those was due to an un-repairable puncture

Have you considered harder wearing tyres such as Continentals, Uniroyals or Avon????

Not quite as sexy looking as Toyo Proxes, GSD eagles or Yokos, but money well spent in the long run

Had the Dunlops fitted today, they look great, the rim protectors are huge, far better than the Pirellis. Only thing I have noticed is that they are ZR rated rather than y rated. Guess it shouldn't be a problem as ZR rated are good for 150mph + and the diesel won't do much more than 130mph (not that I'm likely to find out)

I'm gettin ready for a pair of fronts to replace the factory Michelin Pilot Sports after 21k miles (last 16k with Revo and a wife with lead boots) and I was going for the Eagle F1's but I'm suddenly tempted at the Toyo Proxies............anyone had any experience with them ?

Was tempted to go for the T1-R but they didnt have the 225/45-17 on the shelf. Have heard good things about the Toyos

Goodyear Eagle F1 these are currently not in stock but can be ordered for you. Quote for 2 tyres £163.32.

i got this quote from Philip White Tyres (N.Ireland). works out ~ £47/tyre excluding vat, balancing etc, and the F!'s Seem cheap too!!

does anyone recomend the Falken? i do high miles and dont think the F1's would last long at this level?

got the falkens today, seem to be far better tyre than the bridgestones had on, plenty of tyre on back still so left them on, rear nevers budges and i do try...... steering feels nicer, more precise and less wheel spin, was plagued with it beforehand.

Contis always last a hell of a long time, 20-30k+ easily

i had a hot clio with 15s on, i drove this car very hard, it was slammed on its arse and very fast. i went through quite a lot of tyres, and being 15s even the top tyres were £30,
top Bridgestones (RE040, Potenza S-03) wear fairly quickly and were quite heavy 11k.
I had some nankang ditchfinders on but sold them on ebay as they were frightening.
Eagle F1s are a lot lighter than the bridgestones and contis, have better grip especially in the wet and look the bollocks, they wore very quick though and looked like slicks at 10k
Toyo T1-S had good grip but had a tad better wear, 12k
Toyo T1-R were the best tyre i ever used, by the time i sold this car id done 8k on these and only gone down 3mm

as soon as these shite. noisy, crappy grip Pirrellis run down im going back to T1Rs and never buying pirrellis again

i have just replaced my 2 front tyres for some more bridgestone potenza re040 i managed to get 13000 out of the first set.... think this seems to be the average for these tyres on this car glad i replaced them when i did could nt have used the car in the snow with the old tyres even though they still had about 1 mm left above the markers...... cost me an arm and a leg 220 pounds fitted balanced and valves

are these tyres in same category as eagle f1's or the falkens (i think)? if so as above i had 2 F!'s fitted, balanced, wheel alignment for £163, Falkens @ £148.

Replaced my 2 worn Bridgestone RE040s with Eagle F1s on Saturday.

Considering how worn they are at the moment I'm surprised how well they've managed in the snow
