Going by my sources all future k04 based 2.0TSI's barring the tt-s, as to be fitted in the scirroco R etc will still be of the camshaft fuel pump driven type.

I cant believe how rubbish this car is, it seriously begs the point why bother?
But then again who here is really surprised?
SEAT has made a 17million loss, and the UK is its biggest hot hatch seller. Wouldnt make sense for SEAT to make a proper hyper hatch like Ford have done or Renault, althought they could have taken the renault approach pretty cheaply.

it has 1 good thing going for it , we might be able to rob the seat parts bin for uprated fuel pumps and intercooler , depending on what the price is?
Yep, they could have stripped the seats out the back, added half a cage, fine tuned the suspension, added lightweight wheels and uprated brakes, LSD etc. There are however two problems with doing that;
1) It would cost money to develop (although they could never really expect to make money without spending some to develop something worth buying)
2) With the Leon being a 5 door only, it narrows down the weight loss possibilities somewhat.
What they have done here is made a Cupra go slightly faster although I am willing to bet that the performance figures between the Cupra and Cupra R will be all but identical. 25PS or 10% is not going to be a huge amount of difference on the road.
It will be interesting to see the price premium of the LCR over the LC. If the Ibiza Bocenagra is anything to go by compared to the Ibiza Cupra, there will be a minimal price difference. If that was the case however, whats the point in the Cupra if they cost much the same? Realistically, SEAT will not get away with charging anything more than £1k over the Cupra price for what essentially boils down to a slightly larger set of wheels which are going to be heavier, more expensive to replace tyres with, and give a crashier ride, 2 badges and 25PS more.

The interior is identical to the Cupra save for the black headlining which was present in the original pre facelift Cupra.
boring.com started thinking about changing the Audi already an none of my cash will be going Seat's way i feel.

Ok I'll be honest here, for years all I wanted was a Leon Cupra. I got what I have cos at the time it was a bargain, then I heard the Mk 2 was coming.
Excellent I thought. I'll get one. Then it came out and like many people thought, it just wasn't a Leon. Then the Cupra and it too wasn't...enuff.
Then I heard they were doing an R version, I thought it was going to look and perform like the dogs nuts. Perform almost the best, but above all look bloming awesome.
What a let down.

How is it doing 0-60 in 6.1?
A 300bhp cupra copa does it in 6.0.
Surely 25bhp isn't going to shave nigh on half a second off the sprint to 60? Heavier wheel too, bigger rear brakes, all added wieght.
And why the f**k did seat do the copa that's more powerful than the range topping cupra r????
Anybody think Audi and vw had a say in this? A more powerful cupra r than a golf r or scirrocco r Or s3 would certainly hit the headlines.

The copa was just a car that a SEAT importer modififed themselves.
VAG will never officially make a 300hp 2.0T k04 in the the same tune as it is now. If VAG wanted to make a 300hp unit they would uprate more mechanical bits, and not just a map and slightly bigger cooler as thats not how they go about things.
If vw do make a 300hp hatch I bet it will use a detuned 2.5 5 cyl turbo.
Also arent these 19" ronals meant to be light weight?
Dont want the copa either as you can make your own copa for £500 quid anyway.

The thing is, the R26.R approach doesn't work, as Renault sold about 150 units with the rest going back to Europe (according to evo) - so Seat were never going to do something for such a small market. It just doesn't differ enough from the so called lesser models.

Biggest mistake Seat did was putting the 210bhp lump in the "new" FR. At least with the old 197bhp engine there was a noticeable jump to the 240bhp Cupra. By having such a close gap between the FR, Cupra and Cupra R, the Cupra becomes pretty much obsolete now.
What they should do is drop the facelift Cupra, and sell this new Cupra R as the "Cupra" (i.e. simply remove the R branding). That way the FR is your sporty mainstream model and the Cupra is your range-topper. Are slightly different bumpers too much to ask? Or a splitter and flared arches??? It doesn't have to have a stupid wing like an RS but surely they could have made it look even a bit different!?
