or could it be that badge snobbery from the testers , i test drove an ST didnt do it for me , the VXR is too agressive , the Cupra is a great all round package , dont forget these testers combine track action with road action , the Cupra is the ideal all rounder and great value with great residuls over other marks.
Agree completely. The Megane R26 I used to own before this Cupra was technically the better drivers car on the right road (This is VERY important as I will point out), however, the Cupra is the better all round package, it does everything you want it to plus its fun to boot.
The R26 is far too twitchy for our rutted and pot holed roads. On a smooth road the LSD is brilliant allowing for massive traction and truely ridiculous cornering speeds, on our roads however the Diff lands you in a world of hurt. The front end is all over the place with the diff transferring power left and right as it detects slip (ie going over a pot hole). The turbo was stupidly noisy (this is normal on the Meganes), the interior fell apart and I spent more time in Renault Taunton thank I did on the road....
