Agree completely. The Megane R26 I used to own before this Cupra was technically the better drivers car on the right road (This is VERY important as I will point out), however, the Cupra is the better all round package, it does everything you want it to plus its fun to boot.

The R26 is far too twitchy for our rutted and pot holed roads. On a smooth road the LSD is brilliant allowing for massive traction and truely ridiculous cornering speeds, on our roads however the Diff lands you in a world of hurt. The front end is all over the place with the diff transferring power left and right as it detects slip (ie going over a pot hole). The turbo was stupidly noisy (this is normal on the Meganes), the interior fell apart and I spent more time in Renault Taunton thank I did on the road....
 
I don't normally like aftermarket stuff (understatement) but that front bumper actually looks okay apart from the bonnet grille bit. Toned down a bit that'd be quite neat. Hate the skirts though, some really subtle ones like on the mk6 Golf GTI would have done really. Wonder if the mk6 Golf ones would retrofit as they're pretty small?

It really would be good if we could get some official feed back.
Even if they only fitted sideskirts and a top spoiler it would have been something but all this LCR MK2 does is show what a great car the standard Cupra is.
The sad thing is that the guys that bought the first mk2 Cupras have the best cars. Its usual to progress as time goes on, only Seat seam to go backwards.
 
It's worth people noting that SEAT UK's PR department isn't the design team, policy makers or management of SEAT S.A.

So before you start giving them a hard time over a company policy they have little control over just take a moment to reflect on that fact.

I'm sure they are all too pleased to get feedback on SEAT's products whether it's negative or positive and I know that feedback is communicated to SEAT. But ultimately it's the suits in Martorell that decide the company direction..so don't give the PR guys flack for something that is out of their control.

SEAT PR have had a product event this week with the new Ibiza Cupra so they haven't been available to read the comments.

While I'm at it, people have their own opinion and beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. So please don't start arguments or make picky comments just because someone differs from your opinion or tastes.

No problem just making it a point of reference, because I know how quickly these things erupt into flames. :)

They come on here when they can and they will try and answer most questions put to them if they are able, but they do not make company policy for SEAT so they don't need folks having a pop at them if they don't like the answers they give.

Just have a little constraint folks and try and be constructive with your criticism and thoughts. If you take some time to make well considered comments the feedback will ultimately go further.
 
I think the new Cupra R isn't all bad. OK, its styling isn't wildly different, but I prefer something that isn't too garish- something powerful but reasonably stealthy so people aren't expecting the acceleration.

Power isn't a big step up, but I'm a bit surprised Seat were "allowed" to do it by VAG, as I think this makes it jointly the most powerful car in this class in the grouop.... for a lot less than an S3/R32 (OK, its still only FWD, but you know what I mean- they don't want to undercut themselves).

I'm not sure what the distinction is between TFSI and TSI- I thought it was just branding? Or is this related to the supercharger as well as turbo charger bit? Either way, it looks like its an S3 engine for probably a lot less.

The engine power ratings do seem a bit oddly clumped: 211, 240 and 265 are all pretty close. I thought the Cupra might be superseded by this new model to give just a 211 and 265 choice, but apparently not.

One of the main thigns about it seems to be the included "extras", like auto sensing wipers, lights etc. The Cupra R seems a bit like it is just a Cupra special edition which happens to have a bit of extra power.

Provided it doesn't price itself out of the market relative to a Cupra R it'll probably sell OK as a car with slightly more power, better 0-60 and more standard fittings.

My main concern (other than Seat being sh*t about fixing my air con, but that's another story) is buying a Cupra R when the Mark 2s are heading for replacement in a year or two- that'd have to hit residuals.

why do people who dont have Cupras keep going on about the brakes?
the standard brakes on the Cupra are great , on Revo's 360+ bhp car they also think the brakes are great , i dont see the new Cupra r being able to to mapped past Revo's current figure unless the new car runs a different turbo , so paying extra on a car for better brakes is going to be a waste of money.
 
I believe there is also now a Brembo brake upgrade available for the Leon (albeit at a cost of £1400 lol)

I just cant see any cosmetic differences between the Cupra and Cupra R - with the exception of the badges (front one looks tacky imo) and wheels :blink:

exactly, the cupra brake as tested were just as good as those on the new focus rs, subaru impreza sti and megane r26r.

Infact in every review you read about the cupra they comment on how good the brakes are
