exactly, the cupra brake as tested were just as good as those on the new focus rs, subaru impreza sti and megane r26r.

Infact in every review you read about the cupra they comment on how good the brakes are

Indeed. Very pleased with the brakes.

Also the pads on my MK2 Cupra are still going strong after 20K miles as well. I'd have been through 2 sets by now on my old LCR.

I believe there is also now a Brembo brake upgrade available for the Leon (albeit at a cost of £1400 lol)

I just cant see any cosmetic differences between the Cupra and Cupra R - with the exception of the badges (front one looks tacky imo) and wheels

its been available for ages , its more of a name thing than performance upgrade.

funny you say that , just had my 20k service and it was a frre goodwill gesture , but the dealer who did it didnt know this , so when it went in for its service i told him to change everything that was border line , they never replaced any brake parts , which i thought was a bit strange , so X2 for the wearability of Cupra pads :)

The fact that the mk2 will soon be replaced, for me is not a valid reason to be put off since i think we will have to wait another 3 years once the mk3 initially debuts to see the LCR offering. So do we only have something like an 18 month window in which to buy a high performance seat, until we have to wait for the mk3 Cupra.

Shouldn't be too long until the first of the MK2 Cupras get to the £10k level. What a bargin car that will be. I think this is the route i will take.

im i the only 1 who likes it lol needs a better colour tho ,the brakes look abit crap unlike the old cupras brembos but its a nice car oh and loving the seats!!

Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, Ferrari, JLR, etc. use racing brake setups on their cars because they're much better at stopping time after time. The difference would only be obvious when driving faster than national speed limits though. The thing you have to remember with VAG cars is they are probably over-servo'd so the brakes can often feel more powerful than they really are.

Thats not really the issue with this. Yes they are over servod but that doesnt take away from the fact that they are powerful, and can take lap after lap pounding with minimal brake fade compared to most of their competitors.

There are quite a few of us cupra boys who dont just drive on the roads but also go to places where we push the cars to the limit.

Porsche , different power league as standard
Audi you must be talking about the rs4 and above , s3 has same brakes as cupra
mercedes big heavy german tanks , again amg has larger brakes
ferrari do i need to say more?
JLR????

Most of the cars you have mentioned are part time track day cars.
if the Cupra r came with say AP brakes as standard , then you would be paying nearly 25k for the car plus brake services would cost a fortune for parts and labour.
so if it aint broke why fix it? bakes are excellent , have a look at the Cupras brakes in comparrison with the mk 1 cupra r they are massive in comparrison.

S3 brakes are:

345 front / 310 rear drake disk diameter. It goes on to say 17"/17" brake system in the tech data sheet, but don't know what that refers to. Does the Cupra have the same rears seeing they are never driven?

it must have mate , 17" works out at 432mm give or take 0.2mm

Our rears are smaller, but as i understand it the cupra R has the same size fronts, but the bigger s3 rears.

well i have been waiting to see the pictures of this as i have been putting off ordering a new cupra just in case the lcr was something special.... std cupra it is then:)

What a shame. I didnt like the MK2 when it came out but the Cupra has grown on me and now it has a decent interior I'd consider buying a SEAT again (if I were looking for a car again) I was genuinely excited but the new LCR and am very disappointed with this.
Same as all the other comments really, this just looks like a FR with big whees and slightly lower suspension (still not low enough) . The interior shots are exactly the same as the cupra and why oh why choose lime green as a launch car!?!

When I saw the MK1 LCR I knew thats what I wanted, it had that want one factor and was subtle and beefy looking enough to not shout about the performance.

Have SEAT ever heard of focus groups? Market research? Common sense.....
