Hi all,
Some sad news today it must be Friday the 13th.
My new car formentor plug in 272 that I picked up 6 days ago is back at the dealers.
I took the car out today and after I stopped and did some shopping the car had an error on the screen in yellow please look at the photo.
First the gear selector would not work so I turned it off and stepped outside and opened the car and it would let me select a gear.
But it would only use the electric engine the petrol engine would not cut in.
I was 4 miles away from home and only 3 miles left in the battery that was fun.
I phoned CUPRA and they put me through to CUPRA assist which was the AA he could not get into the cars ect to read the codes. So we charged it and now it’s back at the dealers and they should be able to look at it Monday or some time next week. They did give me a terramar as a courtesy car.
I will keep you informed on this forum of any updates,

Update
I have had a phone call tonight to say that the car is ready for collection. I asked what was wrong with it and was told that it has been reported to CUPRA ( seat) and they are aware of the problem and there will be a fix like software or a part to change in the next coming months. I then asked would it go again and the answer I had, was it might and it might not? So I’m sitting on a time bomb eg it might go at any time, this has knock all confidence in driving the car, so do I refuse the car and get a v3 petrol instead as I like the brand or do I look at something completely different as I need some thing reliable.
What do you think I should do?

You've got up to 30 days to reject a new car if the fault was present when you picked it up which it sounds like it was.

If it was me though I'd give it a chance. I had few teething problems when mine was new but software updates seemed to sort it. If it persists though I'd discuss with the dealer your options.

An other update.
I had the car back on Tuesday morning and have traveled so far 500 trouble free miles
The yellow triangle on the left hand side has not illuminated since.
The car drives like it should and has not displayed the error in the above first post.
I have unplugged the dash cam that was plugged into the OBD plug.
(As the camera needed a constant power for the park mode.
It might have been that the 12v battery was draining too much and the car did not like i).
this was fitted the day before the error on screen.
just in case this was the problem and this is on the way back to the retailer.

The dealers has been in fair fantastic and even send me a hamper and has said if I don't have any confidence in the
car even after the 30 days they will sort out a other car.

just to leave you all know where we are at the moment.

I would suspect dash cam plugged onto OBD.
Maybe some sort of feedback from there and car didn't like it.
It's good to know car is back to normal.
You still have chance to go for VZ 330bhp though just saying 😉

I think it’s the camera as well, the car at the moment is really good.
I would love the the 333bhp but that’s not in the list from the lease company shame.
So it looks like I will be keeping the car thank you for your input.
I am having the camera pulled out on Tuesday it’s been returned and I’m having a normal camera that will be working off the ignition so no battery drain
