Hi all

Just looking for some info if anyone has it...

I'm buying a new car - at some point, but I can't decide so far as there are so many good cars out there.

I test drove the new Ibiza 1.4 Sport on Sunday. Looks stunning inside and out, seems well put together and handles really well. My concern with buying the car would be the engine availability. The 1.4 felt underpowered and isn't great on fuel efficiency, if I was to get the 1.6 I'm sure I'd get more power but I'd also have a bit leap foprward in VED and fuel efficiency would be even worse!

So where are the 1.4 TSI engines in the Ibiza line-up? They're available on the Leon and on paper provide great figures - and I'm sure it'd be even better in the Ibiza for speed and economy as the car is smaller.

Does anyone know if there are going to be improved made to the engine line-up in the near future?

Also - I really don't like the optional white dashboard, the black is much nicer. But I was told I couldn't have the black if I opted for the convenience pack! :(

Cheers for any info!

;)

Well I had the ibiza for a few days and I was getting brill mpg out of it round town 40mpg and when I went on long drive doing 60mph i was getting 51 mpg which I think it really good.

Not sure about the dash.

And it had only done 500 miles

There will be 1.4tsi's in the future. Probably FR or Cupra.
There's also talk of a 1.2tsi 105bhp but that's a while off.

Thanks for the replies guys.

1.4tsi feb/march unveiling.

Sounds promising poverty - do you know if the feb/march unveiling translates into the 1.4tsi being on sale from around april maybe? Or much later?

It's frustrating that I've found a car that I think looks great inside and out, has generous amounts of space, I feel at home driving but then is lacking only when it comes to technical specification!

well the 3 door wont be in showrooms till january 09 from what I hear so I would suppose that in february/march the FR will get revealed meaning it will be about 2 months down the line from that at earliest.

I know what you mean about the engine choices. A real shame, and will hinder the ibizas early success imo.

Something that should be said for VAG holding back the newer engines at launch. Is that by doing such they're at least limiting the scale of faults that will show themselves in the 1st 1-2years... Especially that the younger clientèle that are more inclined to the FR/Turbos & the like. Tend to be the ones quickest to blow things out of proportion(giving the car unnecessarily a bad rap...)!
