Hi all,

Just a quick thread from me and to give you a quick history of my cars and myself.

I've recently bought a 2014 Cupra 280 from a dealer with 2070 miles on her, it's a great car and considering i wanted a car that can do a few track day but mostly the weekend blast and a bit of shopping here and there its a good compromise.

I've completed about 500 odd miles so far so still learning her.

My observation so far are as follows-

The OEM Bridgestones are rubbish especially in the wet, but i've got a new set of Cup 2's on 18" BBS CH alloys coming so they will do until they wear out and i replace them with Michelin PSS.

The electro/mechanical diff needs a bit of learning, it's very effective once you have a 'man up' moment and drive through the understeer. It's not as intuitive as a mechanical LSD like a Quaife but i like it and it will just take a little longer to learn how how to drive her quickly.

The small amount of rattles are disappointing but they are sporadic and not a real concern at present.

The seats aren't very supportive when you're going for it and i would be interested in getting the bucket seats but SEAT are finding it 'difficult' to source them.

It feels pretty quick for a hot hatch (just as quick as my mk2 Ford Focus RS I had) and i quite like the artificial sound in Cupra mode but the manual DSG changes although are fast occasionally don't change down when asked but changing up on their own annoys me. I'll decide when i change gear thanks!

All in all i think it looks great and goes well, I'm looking forward to seeing what she is capable of.

I've previously had many Superbikes from GSXRs' to Ninjas' but these are my previous cars.

2005 EP3 Civic Type R (Uprated discs and pads, Quaife LSD and uprated ARBs with a cat back and Hondata ECU)
2007 Mk1 Mazda 3 MPS Aero (Standard)
2010 Mk2 Ford Focus RS (Standard)
2009 FN2 Civic Type R (Standard)
2009 E92 BMW M3 M-DCT (Alcon BBK Superkit all round with Pagid RS29 pads, Akapovic Titanium Exhaust, Evolve tune running on Michelin PSS)

I'm off to the Nordscleife for the first of many trips again this year in April so I'll let you know how she responds under duress.

I've got some Endless MX45B brake pads and Castrol SRF from Raeder Motorsport coming as well so she should hold up ok.

I've previously completed about 50 laps at the 'Ring with a best lap of 8 min 05s seconds BtG in my M3 on Michelin PSS (i was held up a bit so would of definitely been a sub 8 if it was clear and if i was on Cups, who doesn't say that though!)

I've also completed track days at Brands, Goodwood and Thruxton as well as completing CAT Driver training courses. So I love going fast!

Anyway just a bit about myself, if anyone else is going to the 'ring or other track days give me a shout.

Cheers for reading.

Welcome to the 280 club, if you don't want it to change up by itself, put it in tiptronic (gear lever to side) mode and use the paddles to change gear, and it won't let you change down if that will over rev the motor. Nice first post by the way.:D:D

Took her out again today and tried moving the gearstick over to manual and the car still changes up at the redline, it doesn't hold it like my M3 did.

I know you don't want to be bouncing off the rev limiter but on track sometimes you want to stay in that gear especially if its just before a braking zone.

I usually just hit a paddle to go into manual mode and the same thing occurs then as well.

A minor annoyance, i'll just drive around it.
