New MAF now Leon 150 is running strange

I have fitted a new MAF after the car was running rough (plus done over 70k now), but since fitting the car seems to be boosting a bit strange.

It is smoother now but seems to bog down around 2000rpm in most gears, like bad turbo lag, and seems slower.

There were no other problems before apart from feeling rough and the performance was ok.

Could I have somehow bought a faulty MAF, or does the car need a little time to 're-learn'?

Cheers

No it's not a Bosch (I know, I know), it a Lucas, but I was told they are ok (i.e. not cheap Chinese made) and it's the exact Bosch equivalent for the ARL engine.

Kind of wishing I did get a Bosch one now just to save any potential hassle like this.

I've already disconnected the battery to no avail so am going to try and get a vag-com check over the weekend and see what the outcome is.

I've stuck my original Bosch MAF back in and the car runs SO much better. Think i'm just gonna stick with it now.

Glow Plug in cyl 2 also seems to be throwing a code so I've ordered a whole set to replace them all, maybe some of the rough running was caused by the plugs (at least in the mornings anyway).

I've learned my lesson... no matter how much more expensive, stop being tight and ALWAYS go for original parts.

I am just a bit curious about your glow plug fault. I too have a 150 fr and my engine management light is just after coming on.The code says the glow plug in cylinder four needs replacing . Did your engine management light come on? Are glow plugs expensive?

My engine light came on after fiddling with the MAF, and strangely the code happened to point to the glow plug.

I haven't actually done them yet but after investigation they seem quite straight forward.

All the plugs are located at the front of the engine, just remove the top cover and look below where the rocker cover stops and you will see what looks like a smallish black plastic pipe going into 4 points on the engine. this is the loom for the plugs. Gently pull at it around one of the points and it will pop out to reveal the connector for the glow plug.

To remove them you will need a 10mm deep socket and an extension bar to help reach with a ratchet.

I got 4 for less than £30 but you can get individual ones if you don't want to replace them all for about £8-10.
