Hi so I bought 2010 exeo tsi 2.0. Week ago and as usually I found few things not working and few other things bugging me if any of you dear members have any answers to my questions please reply:
- firstly my cruise control doest work. Nothing is happening when I am turning it on no messages on the dash absolutely nothing any ideas?
- secondly when turning the steering wheel sometimes it's rather hard I was wondering if there is a belt which need adjusting or something?
- not very happy with standard stereo but I don't really want to ruin OEM look so I was thinking about funny sounding stereo xtrons which looks like oem any comments on that?
- dry lights well they not my priority but I'd like to fit d out if they are plug and play (i mean the face lifted onces)
- almost forgot when car is cold it takes a bit longer to start any ideas why

Well I think that's all I will be greatful if anyone could answer my questions

Hi and welcome

Re cruise control.

When you press the cruise control engage switch at the end of the stalk a green light will appear above and between the speedo/rev counter. Touching the brake, clutch will also disengage it. Pushing or pulling the stalk fwd /bwd will engage or disengage it if its been set. Up and down will increase / reduce speed.

If it doesn't work I would 1st check the fuses, see your user manual to locate the right fuse and fuse box location.

Re dry lights, I assume you mean the LED lights, if so see this link

Sorry cant help on the other queries

Cheers

Make sure you have pulled the cruise control lever back towards you first before you can set it.

I haven't got access to my manual atm, but if you have a fuse checker / multimeter just buzz them all out and change the duff one.

thought there is more fuses then the ones on the side, anyway i checked them and they all ok.
i bought that xtrons unit i will update how it works next week
can anyone suggest a good coil pack please as think that this the core of the problem with cold start

Hi Simonsen82 just looked at the owners manual and it doesnt show a fuse for the cruise control,, unless its classed as "Central electronics unit for conveniance equipment" which is a 20amp fuse in location 24 (top row of the large fuses) the other 2 should be 15a along the top if you have them

and googleing "audi a4 cruise control not working b7" lists a few other sites with people who have had simular problems, ( as the exeo is based on the B7) an some of the suggestions include brake switch or clutch switch as if either of them are faulty the system wont engage

thanks for that I need to give it to car electrician, its not like I know how to locate it and change it.
I had xtrons unit in my car for whole 30 minutes- it looks great, great screen, great sound only problem is canbus system drained my car battery so I had to buy a new one - shocking
while I was changing battery I noticed I had loads of water in there any way of draining it?

OOOOHHH dont talk to be about batterys,, ive been stuch on the side of the M6 for 4 hrs cos the works van battery shorted out and shut everything down,

with the A4 Exeo and Passats they all had a couple of "drain holes" allong the scuttle area to stop the build up of water, that have rubber grommets but as the holes are small the pipes tended to block up with leaves and muck,, find something like a wire coat hanger or the flexable net curtain wire and try finding the holes and then poking out the muck,, sometimes if you have access to a ramp or pit it may be easier tofind them from underneath and poke up

search google for "audi a4 b7 water drains" and there will be a load of info to helpand also "Unclog Audi A4 b5 water drain" on youtube although its for another audi it shows you what you should be looking for

Have fun :)

you should be able to reach in and get at the grommet from the engine compartment.
wiggle a finger in it and if it'ts not too badly blocked it might be enough to free it.
I've never had a problem with it so far, but after reading on here, i check mine every few weeks to make sure it's draining.
some folks recommend removing the duck-billed grommet, others recon this might allow fumes to be directed into the cabin. i might consider it if i ever have problems with it

edit: found a vid showing same issue in an A6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxv-mq0iwyY

beauty of buying a used cars always loads of little things - not working things which drives you nuts. Just ordered clutch switch it looks fairly easy to change so I will save my self £100 and I will do it. With regards to water under battery day after it was all gone weird. But now I have a horrible smell from windscreen washer oh joy lol.

But now I have a horrible smell from windscreen washer oh joy lol.

Most likely stagnant water in the washer reservoir bottle. Siphon out what's in there and refill with a decent quality screenwash. I use the Quantum Premium mixed with distilled water rather than tap water, buy it from TPS and from memory it's about a fiver for a 5 litre bottle.
I have heard people recommend sticking a couple of Milton sterilising tablets in with the screenwash to cure the smell but never tried that myself.

ive just found the same problem,, stale water,,, as i have xenon headlights and my exeo has "pop out" washer jets for the lights,, but i dont think they wash until the lights are on full ( i tend to drive with the lights on auto) so as you are unlikely to use the screen wash in the dark the water goes stale in the pipe to the lamp washers,,

going to try watered down milton now ive drained the screen wash bottle ( and then put fresh water in and run that through with headlights on so it flushes through all pipework to clear it all before putting fresh screen wash into the washer bottle)

Little update :
- cruise control sorted when I changed clutch switch
- smelly water sorted by draining water and adding new one
- xtrons unit - quite good unit for the price
- just had cambelt changed with water pump plus service and new coil pack which means trouble free motoring for a while.
- one problem remained - problem with cold start - any suggestions what could it be? I was thinking either injectors or carbon build up???

could be loads of things unfortuantly, from weak battery ( yeah prob not that as youve changed that already ) to faulty air sensor to fuel ( try turning ket to 1st position for a few seconds before starting) or spark plugs or injectors,, yep half of the gubbins under the bonnet could be a possible cause unfortuantly,,
get a code scanner ( buy or borrow) and see if that throws up any faults

battery changed last week, new spark plug yesterday, new coil pack yesterday, i am waiting on fuel pump and still same problem, after all that it runs better starts better when warm but when starting cold its actually worse ?

Well thats electrics and fuel so theres only really air and sensors left,,
google "My Car Is Hard To Start Cold Or Runs Poorly Cold, Why?" and the first link will give you a few ideas of what else you could check
