Hi all,
Found this place whilst trying to find advise online about what to look out for when buying a Leon.
Im considering getting a 'Seat Leon 2.0 TDI Stylance', its a 2007 model with 92k miles on it, and was just wondering if there is anything particular to look out for when buying 2nd hand.
i am so not a petrol head with a fountain of knowledge on car engines, but have looked up online advise like checking for milky oil on the dipstick.
I apologise if this is a dumb annoying post

Welcome, I'm fairly new to Leon ownership so not up on all the things to look for but usual common sense things with used probably worth checking.

Service history
Cambelt change done?
Make sure everything works
Check panel gaps and paintwork
Look for rust on the front wings and maybe rear where the arches meet the bumper.
Get the plate and check on the MOT history check online at the previous MOTs see if it's failed/advised on anything...

Sure others will be along with 2.0 TDI/Leon specific things to check out.

These days as well depending on price (£1000+) if all checks out and I'm still interested I always do a HPI too.

thanks for the welcome :)
already going to ask about the cam belt (as the advert doesn't mention anything about it so if its not been done will be asking at least 500 to be knocked off the price! )
never knew about that MOT check website, WOW very useful.
a lot of the failings are cause of worn tires, tho the last advisory says
"nearside front Front constant velocity joint gaiter damaged, but preventing the ingress of dirt (2.5.C.1a)
nearside rear tyre worn on inner edge"

does anyone know if this major and should be worried about?

cv boots are nothing major, just the rubber covering over the cv joint... pretty common for them to split/perish over time on most front wheel drive cars and usually not particularly expensive.

The nearside rear tyre wear on inner edge is a common mk2 fault, it needs 4 wheel alignment doing.

thank you all, Im a bit useless/clueless when it comes to engines etc. but really keen to get a Leon and dont want to get lumbered with a lemon (even tho it is yellow lol)
