I have been reading alot on this forum and am seriously thinking of buying a LCR, i have used the search button but didnt find anything specific. So could the Turbo experts/ LCR owners here give me some tips/advice on how to look after a Turbo car cos i've never owned a turbo car.
the only difference between a turbo car and others is its nice to let the turbo cool before turning it off if you have driven it hard.
so either:
park up and leave car running for few mins.
or
take the last few miles of the journey easy.
Cant really add much to whats already been said except let the car run for a few minutes when you first start it ? youll notice the engine note change and become quieter (secondart air pump isnt it ?) other than that enjoy it you will be smiling for a long time
yes, i would agree. Keep your oil topped up.
The LCR uses a suprisingly large amount of oil. Let it drop and you'll cry, keep it topped up and you'll love it. Then get it remapped and you wont be able to get out of it mate
don't think mine uses any, but as with anything mechanical, tollerances can lead to variability in perfromance and characteristics. Manufacturers do allow for an allarming amount of oil usage.
Looking at the turbo run down time comments, thought these cars have some kind of water circulation system that runs on after turnning off the engine to allow the turbo to cool gradually? you can here the pump running near the bonnet catch

I'd like to add when you first start up the car from cold leave it running for 30 seconds to a minute. That way lets the engine warm a little and oil gets around to lubricate the engine. Most engine wear is done is first set off...
