Hi guys/girls..

Black V5 170 (standard) - I used to have a FIAT Coupe 20v before we had our daughter, and that forum is very active indeed - this one doesn't seem so (toledo section, that is) - or has it just been slow of late?

Cheers
Aaz

It's just cos our cars are bullet proof :D

ha ha - I wish

Welcome to the forum/club.

You'll probably find a lot of the common issues get picked up in the Leon (Mk1) section and you just learn to spot which can be read across to the Toledo

...short of the tailgate and the turbo (unless you're one of the lucky 20VT owners) that's pretty much everything :p

Hi and welcome. There's loads on the site of relevance in other sections, but yes the Tolly section is fairly quiet. A combination of poor take up of the newer model and the fact that even us Mk 2 owners are pretty rare. I tend to take that as a compliment. Hope you're enjoying the motor, the black suits the V5 very well I think.

thanks!

Thanks mate - i guess we'll have to do more talking then!
Where are you from?
Aaron

I'm up in Preston (South Manchester originally) clock up most of the Toledo's mileage driving back and forth from York at weekends to see the missus

...and I'm east London. Don't let the daughter grow up too quickly as there isn't that much room in the back of the Tolly. Unfortunately, although a lot of issues are in common with the Leon, the V5 engine isn't one of them. That said, the engine itself very rarely has problems. It is things like MAF, water leaks, fan fuses, brake light switch which are common ground...in fact there probably are very few things that the V5 has as a distinctive problem. The MKIVs forum (as much as I love this one) probably has more info on the V5, but I've hardly had a need to visit it - my 'home' is here.

TllEWL, though I'm London I skirt York the odd weekend as I visit the old folks up in Malton now and again. May see you on the A64 sometime. Oh, and I went to college in Lancaster 20 odd years ago so I kinda know Preston.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

The one issue I do have at the moment is sqeauking brakes in reverse and at low speeds in first... (pulling off the drive)

I'm told its a common fault, but some copper grease on the back of the brake pads sorts this right? (haven't tried it yet..)

Welcome to forum Aaron.

I'm a fellow v5 170 newbie - from London. Great sports saloon for the money, fine build quality and its amusing to see uber sports car drivers gawp in surprise when I zoom past them
