Good morning.

My name is Lewis I am 28 and live in Caterham Surrey and after recently starting a new career I had to sell my lovely new Cmax Titanium diesel.

On Monday afternoon I picked up my mk1 Leon 1.8t 180.

After two weeks of trawling the internet and looking at all kinds of utter rubbish, I found the Leon. I paid 1400 for it.

Here's the good bits. One owner from new and a GENUINE 41,000 miles! Paper work backs all this up. Interior is in near perfect condition.

Bad bits, it's yellow, paint work is a bit s*it and faded. And the last guy put a new wing on it and it's a different shade of yellow.

Other than that the car drives spot on, and it's mighty quick for what it is. I can't wait to squeeze more out of it.

Now first things. The radio reception is really poor, can I improve this or just replace the head unit and put a new ariel box thing in it.

Now, plans are I want to tune the car and this is where I need help, I am completely new to this 1.8 unit. And being a previous vauxhall and ford guy have no idea where I need to start.

The turbo seems very vocal and chattery as it is, but I want it Louder! :)

I would also like gauges!

Basically it's a family daily at the moment, but when I finish my training in a year will be buying a new S max or something and this will become my fun car/track car. The paint work as I said is fairly cr*p so I'm thinking super quick yellow sleeper kinda thing.

So far I love the little car and as always boost is addictive!

Thanks in advance for any advice you can share with me.

Lewis

Thanks. Yeah so far so good. Radio and sound quality from speakers is annoying me but. It's nothing major.

Another question, these engines, do the need to be left running after a long journey to cool down?

If you drive the last mile normally the turbo will have cooled enough to switch off. Your engine is it AUQ or APP? makes a big difference to tuning

Thank. I went out yesterday parked in morrisons, mrs ran in I'm sat listen to the radio, 10 mins later she's come back go to start the car, click. Nothing! Grrrr

Luckily there was a kwik fit 5 mins walk away went and bought a battery plug it in. Perfect, finally went for a nice long drive yesterday down some A roads and I'm chuffed with how it drives.

Plans this weekend are all round bulbs, sides, mains, number plates, and if I have more left over I will find somewhere. Maybe reversing lights etc.

Also going to de badge the car. As some of the lettering is cracked and there is a horrible old GB plastic badge on the back.

So hopefully do that later this affo,
