Hi there guys ,, so I have a 2011 Altea 1.6 and seen a 2011 Xl on marketplace, done the deal but still haven't parted out my old one.
Wanted to sort out a few niggly problems. Item one ...reverse gear is hard to get into, S/h gearbox was fitted a while back. Luckily my son is a mechanic and he is sourcing the rod that goes into the top of the box, so that will solve that. Item two ...and also annoying is when there is heavy rain. It comes in over engine cover and lies in oil filler cap and spills in around the injectors. I know Seat are doing a kit at around £40 but I thought of getting a neoprene strip and stick this just inside edge of bonnet. At least the rain won't come rushing down the screen and cascade in over engine cover, battery and fuse boxes. Anyone done this as a fix ? My other Altea isn't just as bad, still gets in but not around injectors. I love alteas, great car with good MPG

Well I think I've sorted out the water issue getting around the injectors. I watched as a cascade of water come down the screen and poured right into the filler cap and then settled around the injectors. I bonded a piece of plastic over the oil cap thus directing water away down the sides. For oil top-up just remove the cover. Effective yes, cost £0
