I had that one for the last week, although it could have been less. Basically turned ignition on last Friday, aircon was off, dipped lights were on and the ABS light was on yellow fixed plus engine cooling fan when engine is cold and not started !. Turned off the ignition all off. Back on all the same. Did my shopping, no change. Saturday looked at the fuses under the dash. There is the 40 amp aircon fuse that I pull when the aircon stops working and push back in again with ignition off. It wasn't that. Saying that it was deformed since it had become hot (deformed we mean the metal gets hot, the plastic deforms and the pins move away from their original line up). Had noticed that the aircon was giving up like everyday I took the car out and I had to do the fuse trick - posted this one up a few years back. Turn ignition off, whip 40 amp aircon fuse out below steering column, put back in, turn key and the blower etc starts to work again.
So anyhow on the Saturday, I took the aircon fuse out and it was deformed so probably not making a good contact which was leading to the intermittent aircon issue, but could it cause the Altea to switch the dipped headlights on, put the aircon off completely and put up an ABS warning light. I changed the fuse. Did a Google not much up about Seat, but VW cars can have these issues if a random "service fuse" is blown. I booked the car in since I decided that it could have been the fuses under the hood and those ones if you start pulling them can put on airbag warning lights you can't get off yourself.
Today, went out to the car for a bit more shopping. No problem, issue resolved itself. What is going on ?. Dampness or the computer(s) had thrown this fault for a time limited period ?. I had an issue several years back when the car immobilised itself for a day but came back to life again by itself, that was when I did start pulling fuses under the hood and managed to activate the airbag warning light. That's what I was trying to avoid this time. I'm tending to think it was a protest warning from the car due to the faulty aircon fuse but I could be talking dribble
. There could be another deformed fuse that I haven't found yet.... my life's mysteries at the minute. I un-booked it out of service since I don't think they would find anything given the problem has gone unless they read something off the port (privileged £110 or so for that), the others didn't when the car immobilised itself for a day, they didn't charge me anything, these were going to.
It survived another four days without throwing up the problem so I'm thinking that this weird "error message" of putting on the side lights, disabling the aircon and putting up the ABS / Skid light was due to the sensing side of stuff which re-evaluated what was going on with the faulty fuse and went back to normal.... or just dampness. After keeping the same car for twelve years you start to know it qwerks but not all of them.
