Help! I used to have a Cupra 1.8T. For economy reasons I changed to a 2000 Toledo TDi (110). I notice that there is no engine management light showing on the dash when I turn on the ignition. Does this car not have an EML? I thought given the electronics and turbo it would.

I had the same on my old 50-plate TDI 110, and Seatmann (I think) told me that the earlier diesel ECU's didn't user the management light, they used the glow-plug light to signal ECU and fuel system errors. Never managed to get the dash panel out to confirm whether there was a piece of card covering the light or not.

On my older Mk.2 Ibiza TDI 90 ECU errors were definitely signalled through the glowplug light. Basically, if it comes on while you're in motion, it means there's an error.
