I have little fasteners on my floor for my mats... (57 plate FR)

seems to be a plastic thing either side of the floor with a screw in between..

See in theory ours should all be the same as a 57/ 08 plate would be 2008 model year!

Could it be they only fit the fasteners if mats were specified from the factory?

Guess it should be possible to retrofit just not sure which parts I'd need

When you buy the genuine mats they come with small peg/fasteners that you screw into the carpet. The mats then clip onto these. The fasteners have Philips slots in the top to screw them in.

That's what I have in my 57 reg Cupra.

The FL cars came with the fasteners in place I think, and they have different spacing than the Pre FL mats

EDIT...........like these - http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_IV--1.8T/Interior/Floor_Mats/ES348748/

Cool that makes sense :)

Now just need to see if I can buy the fasteners that screw into the carpet by themselves, as current mats are ok just don't have anything to clip to

Couple of tips.................if you get them.

Clip them into the mat, position it on the floor, then screw the clips into carpet. They will just spin in the mat and you will get them evenly spaced that way.

When removing your mats to clean them, push a screw driver of key against the top if the fastener as you lift the mat. This stops you ripping them out the carpet.

My mats just came with fasteners that I screwed into the carpet. I've got a few spares if anyone needs them? Think mine are the oblong ones....
