No power to side repeaters

Failed my MOT today on side repeaters not working (also exhaust bracket broken but that not the big issue). The garage has now told me its not that the bulbs have gone, its that there's no power to the sockets and they need to investigate by tracing the cables to find the break which is gonna cost loadsa labour, not good

Anyone else had this or can offer any advice?
Cheers

Checked the fuses, all seem ok. Any clues where the relays are for these, guessing they aren't the same as the normal ones as they still work?

Side repeaters are wired in parallel with the front and rear indicator bulbs. There's no separate fuse only fuse 2 for all the turn indicators (fuse 39 feeds the hazard warning system separately).

If your front and rear indicators are working but not the side repeaters, I'd check the earth connections first, although it would be unusual for both to go at once. Have they been replaced by aftermarket repeaters, or has anything else in the side repeaters been changed?

Theres just one relay, built into the hazard warning switch, that does all the flashy bits with the indicators.

All other indicators are working fine, just the side ones. The repeaters are oem AFAIK but only had the car for 6 months! They look standard.
If there's only one relay wouldn't all the other indicators flash on double time if the side ones go, or do they not draw as much power? The garage said they tried with a volt meter after seeing it wasn't the bulbs.

I'll check the earths!

side ones are too low a current draw (5w) to make the rest flash fast like a corner (21w) out would do

as above said i'm sure they are piggy backed off the front ones anyway so might just be dodgy connections ?

Id double check what the garage said, might be having you over, try new bulbs your self. Could be a case of yeh we had to do this n that and all they did is put a bulb in.

Given up looking today, nothing obvious i can see so its going back into the garage tomorrow. They're a reliable garage so trust what they find, if they do!

Did you find out? ive just looked at mine and i pulled them out of wing and the wire followed, they been cut for some bizzare reason, so i need to re-wire them, if i cant find the wire il have to hook then up to the fronts

Finally got it sorted last week and its not satisfying at all! At first i thought the garage were having me on, they said the wires had been chewed by mice ...

I had to see it to believe it and so he showed me some other wires he removed that had been chewed but not actually broken. And when i think back about it, the guy i bought it from was using a barn as his garage so it kind of makes sense. I reckon he must have had some deal with a local garage to get it through the MOT with them not working  as the garage said it'd been like that for a while!

So not helpful to anyone else with a similar problem unless you have mice in your garage, they could nest in your wings!
