Got a copy of VAG com 4091 and a USB cable.
Have managed to install the correct drivers for the cable and the test shows ok and I seem to be good to go.

I've saved the test - clicked on engine and it should start doing it's magic.... but no joy... :(

It tries it 4 times and then comes up wit the message "No response from controller"

I've tried baud rates of 9600 etc... but still no change.... I've even tried the earlier version of VAG com - 3112n.

It just seems like it can't get a signal from the ECU... or engine controller?

Any ideas on this one anyone?

Thanks
Raf

SORTED IT! :D

Had to go into device manager and chacnge the com port assigned to the cable - default was 6 whereas on VAG com - it only worked on Com 3.

So in deveice manager I changed the com to Com 3 and voila - it worked and communicates fine. :)

Doing this from memory so may be wrong :(

You have to check in Device manager so:-

Start - Settings - Control Panel - System -Hardware - Device Manager

View devices by type the look down to
Ports (COM + LPT)
In there will be your USB Cable? and its COM number.
Double click and go to advanced where you should be able
to then set this to the COM port of your choice. ie. COM 2.

Go back into VagCOM and setup according to your newly picked COM port number.
Run check and save if all is OK.
