A job for me then as I'm off work this week, I'll go to my VW dealer and ask some questions

I'm pretty sure that the drawer was only if you had height adjustable seats. That was certainly the case with my first Mk4.

Mine has one but drivers side only.

Rich I think it's good for 1.5KG, 15KG of anything would be a tight squeeze

yup that weight seems about right as it tells you on the top of the drawer.. i have all my driving enhancements in there.. like speed camera detector (never use it), sunglasses, in car chargers etc... my old 1.4 16v Se had height adjustable seats on both sides and only the drivers seat had the drawer...

The 04 plate 1.4 16v Se did not have one on the passenger side (or not that i knew off)... in two years of owning..
