Noisy engine

Morning,
Recently I've notice the engine sounds really loud like a diesel the noise is coming from the left hand Side by the cam belt. It wasn't noisy when a bought it several weeks ago actually I was surprised how quiet it was and it's really annoying me now. Does anyone no what it could be and if there is any fixes

Petrol or diesel???

I'm guessing petrol as he complained of it sounding like a diesel? The FSI engines normally do sound diesely on startup and idle, especially the first generation system. If yours is getting worse, I would check to see if it is the hydraulic tensioner, as in the last post from this link http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-sportback-8p-chassis/120151-a3-2-0fsi-engine-noise.html

This talks about cam chain on TSI engines, not sure if yours is a TFSI or TSI.

My TFSI pre-FL FR is the same too.. it seems louder than when I got it and almost sounds diesel-like.
