It might also help to polish the glass and blades using a proprietary automotive glass polish. Build up of traffic film, oil residues and even car wash shampoo can cause what appears as smearing. It is these oils, silicones and contaminants that cause the screeching, as the blades are designed to glide over a smooth glass surface - not a semi-lubricated (oiled) one!

Is glass polish different to the glass cleaner that I use on my windows at home?
