Hey guys...I'm a noob frm s. wales. just bought myself a mk2 cupra sprt gti in yella! Seems like an awsum forum you've got here. Got a question..... when I put my foot down in 1st...the car 'judders' and knocks a fair bit through first and into second. Now iv been told the car has traction control (cant find a button 2 turn it off) and I think it might be a combo of the exhaust rattlin' and the traction control kicking in. any ideas? cheers guys.

(if u see a blue 5 door punto elx w/modds on auto trader 4 sale in n'castle.... that was mine!!)
:)

i dunno who told you it had traction control, because mine doesn't! congrats on the new car though, obviously a good choice! is it the 16v or 8v? but can't see what's wrong with it, does it mainly happen when you first jab the pedal down, or right the way through the revs?

welcome fellow taff

definitely no TCS on mk2 im afraid, possible you have a duff engine mount or perhaps another mount has gone somewhere causing the knocking/juddering

its an 8 valver...nicer on the insurance (im only 20).The dealer states it has t/c...ah well! it rattles when i accelerate hard though 1st n 2nd, it seems to come and go. im going to get a 60k service for it to check the cam belt ect. any thoughts on a good exhaust system? i fancy a good s/s system with manifold and an oval tailpipe.
anyroad...thanks 4 ur replies

No Ibiza's had TC, but some 16v ones had EDS (or something like that), which was a crude version of a proper Traction Control. The rattling is probably your cat heat shield located under your car.

mine judders in the dry out of junctions, not in the wet... that would be wheel spin thanks to a happy rite foot, and a nice amount of torque. i did my cambelt at 65k the thing was mint but i did it anyway, took around an hour and a half.
A full exhaust system including manifold and cat is going to be costly, i went for a powerflow catback at around £240 and with a nice lifetime guarentee for as long as i own it.

What tires are these that make it judder? mine just spin!

Hancooks or summat, they used to make them at the goodyear factory
they gripy, but at the same time the one wheel is trying to spin, it makes for an intresting combination.

in the wet it will wheel spin so easily sometimes its annoying tryin to put the powerdown at all

Hello, Welcome to the site, enjoy.

First time I drove my 8v I wheel span it in the dry, really didn't expect it lol.

Dolly GTI, was its really only £240 for a cat back exhaust??? Was that just a copy of the original or a custom one? I got quoted onr £400 or a stainless copy of the standerd exhaust.
