i bought my cupra 2 weeks ago and was told it needed a service . So friday (yesterday) i took my car for a service and cambelt. and asked them to check the front passanger side wheel as on thursday night it started making a funny noise. well it turned out it had a nackerd wheel bearing which had nackerd the hub brake discs and the new pads the previous owner put on. so £480 later i still have not had a service or cambelt change. because it had been knackerd for quite a long time i guess. it annoyed me more that i had new tyres put on the day i bought it and they didnt relise

is it something you can tell by looking at it? usually have new tyres is just removal of old one, new one put on the wheel, pumped balanced and put back on the car. They dont usually test the other bits to make sure its all good oh and might check the tracking

no you cant tell by looking but the wheel would have been wobbly when jacked up.

Sounds about right to me.

cambelt is about a 3 hour job plus 100 quid in parts iirc. Then another hour or so for the wheel bearing plus other bits and bobs.

Why are you gutted tho? You knew it had to be serviced which included a hefty bill for the cambelt.

what sort of noise was it as im starting to get a constant whine from the right side of my car ?

thats the thing i wasnt getting a noise until thursday when i started to get a screech everytime i went round a roundabout

you shudve tried taking it elsewhere and see if they found nefin. Like vauxhall tried ripping me off when they said i needed new brake disks, calipers and brake pads and when i took it for its MOT and not had the work done they passed it - so i took it to another dealer and they said it was all fine!

Brake disks (£187 + VAT)
Brake pads (£66 + VAT for pair)

plus labour of 3 hours @ £86 + VAT!

fukk dat lol in the end the car was fine! just them trying to pull a fast one
