As the actual OBDeleven topic has become a 'will it work with 1.4/1.8/2.0/ blah blah blah' i thought maybe it would be easier for those who have more experience than I do with OBD11 to see if this is possible.

I would like to remove the requirement to depress the brake in order to start the car. Obviously, I have a DSG and keyless start.

Does anyone think this is possible with long coding?

In one facebook group Im see that one guy sell some module which you install near brake pedal sensor and you don't need press pedal to start car. If remember is designed for Audi but probably work also for Seat... I will ask him...

thats interesting

Im check and he have clutch pedal press fix. Im ask him if is possible make for DSG users press brake pedal fix and receive answer that he don't have dsg car to test but probably this will be very hard to do because is fix not so simple as clutch pedal fix ...
I will also be interested in fix when I receive my Cupra(Im order it one week ago and waiting time is 6 months :( ) and think to build some canbus device to modify things which I don't like:
-Disable Start/Stop by default or maybe remember last state
-Simulate brake pedal press until car start

If someone is finding it so hard to press the brake pedal to start a car maybe they shouldn’t be driving at all?

Seriously though, what am I missing?

If you have this fix then you don't need sit in car to start it and you can press start button from outside... This is usefull in winter that you not need take snow into car two times... First to start car and then clean snow from car and later to drive it...

And being the old boring guy on the team, check with your insurance company because a car with engine running and no driver in the uk is not insured.

Sounds like a good idea. Start up the car and watch it lurch forward/back into the garage door/gatepost/dog/small child.

Im happy to not live in UK. We don't have that rules... Also we are talking about car with DSG so to turn it off you must put it in PARK. And in PARK it can't move forward backward...
You guys who are not interested in this just miss this thread and write posts in some other threads...

How do you press the start button from outside? Surely you have to open the door anyway , depositing snow etc in interior , thus defeating the object. And wouldn't you have to get in anyway to turn on demisters, bum warmer etc? Unless you have incredibly loooonnng arms and have escaped from a circus... :D

With dsg it's not a mechanical lock like an auto, just a position on the lever (which is in effect a switch). The brake is the extra layer of safety.

As I know car have also hand brake which is applied when you turn off car...
Also pressing break can't help you drive car into your kids. For example if there is malfunction in brakes and you lose fluid which can happen with same posibility as car in park mode have problem to lock gearbox shafts or hand brake is not applied...
I in 11 years owning DSG car never had problem starting car in park mode without applied brake... But yes it can happen with same posibility like when your wife drive car home press park button and car move steering and hit your kids(Your wife scare and forget press brake)...
Im happy that I park car in front of wall so nobody can't be in front car and if go forward it will hit wall and nothing else.

Can we discuss the technical solution to this and start another thread for those with moral panic SJW issues?

Take any 20 year old car with automatic gearbox and it can be fired up without applying the brake, no kids got run over then.
