Hi All,
I know there's a few threads re. "which code scanner?",
but I can't as yet find a definitive answer to my question, which is;

What code scanner works on an October 2008 ('58 reg, pre face-lift) Leon Cupra.I gather the 2008-on models used different coding, so while on the face of it, the highly rated Vgate VS450 should work, it also might only work to a degree,in a limited capacity.

That item is about £30 to £35 on ebay
Do I buy & chance it, & end up with something I'm not happy with (I asked the seller a question & he replied "works in limited capacity"), or do I need to find £169 for a Foxwell NT510, which I think will do everything (need to confirm);

Can anyone comment who knows please,hopefully someone will have one of the tools and shed some light on the matter.... it would be much appreciated.
I obviously don't want to spend £169, if a £35 tool will do the same thing, on the flip side I don't want to waste £35, say for example if I need to clear an airbag warning light only to find I need to buy the £169 tool after I've already got the £35 one, which maybe can't do it.You know what I mean....

Thanks
Jonathan.

I suggest going for the most common one that I have seen on here which unfortunately is more expensive but it will do everything you need and probably more...

Ross Tech VCDS

My 2 pence...

Cheers

Thanks, am I reading it right, you get literally everything you need, including software for £225? Obviously I'd need a laptop too....

You get a cable which you register to get the Ross tech software which you put on a laptop then you can read codes, get rid do changes to the car like needle sweep when you start up if your car is new enough...

It's very in depth, I had it for my 2007 fr nd will be getting another one soon for my Cupra R.

Much better than the ones you hook up to a mobile phone app.

Cheers

Cheers mate I think after reading up more on it, I will go for the VCDS, just need a suitable cheap laptop off ebay.

Thanks for the help :)

For a simple code reader i got one from ebay.

It was about £25 and so far has served me good :)

This looks good!

You got it? Any downsides?

Cheers

Yes I have got it. You need a constant internet connection to use the data it provides, VCDS gives you more help through the interface if you're doing stuff like coding.

You cant use an iPhone, need an Android due to need to use bluetooth. But pretty much all features are there for cheaper price and no VIN limit. Have a look on YouTube!
