went to start the car today but when i went to turn it over there were no lights displaying on the dash and hence it did not start. i removed the +ve terminal of the battery and re connected it and it started fine. this has now happened on two separate occasions...any ideas as to why this would happen??

Have you tried using "search" on this site and briskoda - I'm sure that I've heard/read about this happening in the past. I can't guess what the "search" wording would be though.
I reckon you were very close to finding the fault, make sure both battery terminals are clean from white furr and tight. Also check the negative terminal where it bolts to the metalwork under the bonnet.
