I have a 2012 FR 2.0 tdi and Im just approaching 10,000 miles, I checked the oil a few times earlier on in the cars life and the oil was still clean and at a perfect level.
I have gone to check the oil today and its past the top marker.... The car had been upto temperature and then I had left it for the oil to settle for around 15 mins !!!

Im no mechanic but Im no numpty either and Ive had enough cars to know how to check oil, Ive had the car since last july and I got it with delivery mileage (I have never topped it up)

Why is it appearing to be too high a level ? Pic below -

Haha yeah my mate has a fabia vrs tsi and is currently putting a litre in every 600 miles, I think he'd love to see some all on the dipstick.
I Didnt think it had gained oil, just thought it wasnt settled properly or something.

Thanks for the reply mate [B)]

I read somewhere that during a DPF regen diesel is added to the engine oil, that is why your level rises. Can't remember why it said this was done though.

Thanks for the reply mate :)
I will have a look into this, it does seem strange that 15 mins after switching off the engine the oil isnt at a settled level.

does appear to be a common diesel issue across all dpf diesels -and is attributed to oil dilution -letter in diesel car magazine may 2013 discusses this issue
