Guys,

what do I need to make sure I have everything so my oil presure gauge can be fitted?

I currently have the gauge and sender. do i need anything else like a sandwich plate or t-piece.

also, can anyone advise if there is a guide on here, i did a search but most of the guides are a few years old and some of the links for parts needed no longer work/guides no longer available.

Thanks

depending on what sender you have youll probably need a thread adapter to m10x1 (Which is what the carhas standard)
The gauges from halfords autogauge ones, have a 1/8 27NPT thread as an example... so youd need a female 1/8 to male m10x1

Otherwise youll fall at the first hurdle

i have one of these vdo type senders with the gauge, i beleive the guide says 1/8 npt and mentions the sandwich plate but not too sure what exactly would be needed.

shiit sorry i was sleepy when i typed that...
^^ This guys right it is an M10x1 thread on the oil filter housing, not as i mentioned beore (Edited now foraccuracy)

You dont need a sandwich plate, just have a look above the oil filter housing, therell be a few sender units already there... if theres one not plugged in, remove this and put the new sender for the gauge in its place...

If theres not a spare space, youll need a T piece that will allow you to feed off one of the ports, and then run the original sender plus the one for the gauge

ok, just had a look at the oil housing and i cant see where it would go, any tips for what i should be looking at?

on the r/h there was something with some wires but not sure about the connection.

anyone got pics? diagrams?

Thanks

its not a brilliant photo but you can see where the sensors are in the filter housing...
see if any of these dont have a wire to them...

ive circled 2 of them but there may e 3... icant quite remember... itll be obvious when you have a look

thanks for the pic, the item circled on the left is available on mine...allen key shape not on top, i hope its not on too tight. i take it this will be an m10 nut/fitting?
another thing, will there be enough space for the vdo type sender?

i dont know what the allen key bit you mention means, but yea its an m10x1 thread, i think thats where my oil pressure gauge sender is so theres plenty of room there...
Just make sure you got the right sized thread before you screw it in or youll just mash the threads...

If theres not enough room... just put the old one back in and then think some more

Is the gauge electric or mech?

AFAIK theres only one spare hole for the sender which i think is the upper circle in the pic. Youll need an allen key to get the blanking plug out.
Ive got oil temp and pressure, so use an oil filter sandwich plate for the extra sender. The sandwich plate can take 2 senders.

I am running the two oil gauges (temp and pressure) and i have used the spare point on top of the oil filter housing and the OE pressure sensor position i put the temp sensor in the top location as the pressure sensor wont fit, remove the oe sensor on the right then put in the adaptor pictured below, put the oe sensor in the middle location and the new pressure sensor in the end, there is room for it all, i have been running this set up for ages without any issues.

i take it i can use the adaptor to mount my gauge on the r/h side circle???
