I just came back from my holiday so had not drived my leon for two weeks. i was over taking in third gear up to 6,000 Rpm. When i changed into 4th the oil warning light started to flash, so i stopped stright away. The car now sounds like a diesel i though it sounded like a top end rattle so removed the rocker box but cannot see anything a miss. Any ideas please?

Was thinking of removing the sump tommrow to see if that brings any light to the noise!

The chain tensioner loooks like it is woking on as the belt has good tension. I have turned the engine over with the rocker box removed and there apears to be oil pumping over the camshafts and all hydralic tappets and moving ok.

Seat leon 1.8 T Bam Engine

Any help would be good, thanks

oil pick up, the tapping will be the cam chain tensioner mate it get starved of oil when the pick up blocks and damages it.

clean the pick up and change the oil and see if it improves but when it happened to me i had t replace the cam chain tensioner :(

Just removed the sump and found the pick up pipe blocked solid with carbon! Thanks for the help. I 've read on a few threads people recomend replacing the pick up is this necassary?

I replaced mine saturday as I had a slight sump leak and changed it as precaution while the sump was off. £8 for a new one plus a few pence for a new seal, and i already had the sump sealant

dont suppouse any one has the part number for the oil pickup parts that people replace whilst doing this? for a cupra r. and if seat dont have it will i be able to get it from audi etc (may sound stupid lol) cheers
