Or possible coil packs on their way out.

From cold, e.g. been sitting for a few days, it starts like my 1981 motorbike! splutters and actually sounds like its misfiring. Plus it doesnt start at full revs, it then drops to normal idle as if its warm and up to temperature.

I've cleaned the MAF again, no difference, ill probably unplug it and go for a spin tommorrow and see if it mis fires on start up, sound similar to anyone?

Sure Does Same Happened To Me Last Winter Apart From Three Of Mines Went Was Fun To Dive, Replaced And No Trouble Since , Commen The Guy At Garage Told Me.

would vag-com show up a coil pack fault? e.g. a misfire ?

one of my coilpacks went a couple of weeks ago and there was no warning. engine warning light came on. seat replaced them foc under a five year warranty,that i didnt know existed. very common problem by all accounts. dont think vag-com would show a fault before a coil pack goes.
