Ooops...Foot down..full boost...Big Bang!

Well what to say.... i was very scared...lol

Was on the way to pick me GF up from work earlier on and i started to go down a slip road to join the carrige way... was in third gear doing about 30mph so put me foot down to accelarate and i hit full boost as normal and as soon as i joined the traffic something wierd happen which i carnt explain and then an almighty crack/bang (never heard anything so load) from the exhaust then the car had died so coasted up a slip road to a hault. My first thought was oh no me engine had gone pop or turbo and gone...but as everyone does i stuck my head under the bonnet to have a look, didnt see anything at first but then i noticed that the charge pipe had popped of the top of the turbo...relief

so had to phone the GF's dad to come bring me a screw driver after he picked her up from work...which by this time she started walkin in the cold and rain as she had no phone battery..... she wasnt happy when she arrived with her dad but i bought her a kinder bueno which made her a bit happier.... had to nick a jubilee from me air filter as the other went missing.....

other than that the car is ok ....

lol very scary isnt it mate ive had one go when i was overtaking side by side then i had to let him go infront again very embarrasing and scary as there was a car coming towards me aswell

this happend when i was buying my car out on the test drive the guy said give it some beans which i did and BANG! but good job it did happen as he but a forge pipe on after that

same happened to me but on the old intercooler pipes! Wrc jubileeis what i have hold upto 3 bar apprently but they are 6 quid!

funny enough had the same problem last sunday the same pipe blew off! got a nice fat t bolt clamp on there now aint goin anywhere lol

This was why I always carried a screwdriver and 2 spare clips in the car with me after waiting in the cold and rain for a mate to bring one to me.

Same happened to me when i picked my car up from having the clutch done

This happened to me going up a hill on the motorway, foot down with little pressure and boom!

Stuck in a live lane of the A1! Rescued by the Highway Agency

Happened in my old blue one and I changed the pipe straight after to a smaller one and it's one of the first things I did to my current Cupra. It's a must IMO, silicone has alot more give than the hard rubber so you get alot more grip with the clip.

This is how I clamped mine down, longer pipe so less risk of it popping off, it's also reduced in size.
