Opinions on buying a cupra

Just thought I'd ask you guys and see what your opinions are. Been on the hunt for a Cupra, done the usual and set a budget and criteria like mileage and colour etc.

Some one has come up fairly local pretty much perfect in terms of what I'm after. 58 plate, Blue on 50k Listed at £8450 Happy Days... But here comes the potential issue. Father works in the motor trade has done for 20 years+ So naturally I asked him to get a valuation to get an idea what it's actually worth. Both Caps & Glasses say just over £6500 as a trade in, around £7000-£7500 depending on condition private and the £7775 retail on a forcourt. So of course my old man is telling me it isn't worth that money and I'd technically be instantly losing unless I paid close to £7500.

So I guess what I'm asking is, in people's opinion is it overpriced or are Cupra's just fetching good money at the minute?

Would I be a plonker to pay £8000 if I could negotiate?

You can always offer what you think the car is worth,he doesn't have to accept it. But I'm on the same page as your dad,

WBAC value £6240, I wouldn't be paying any ware near the asking price, no more than £7300

Yeah that's the one, I agree in that I don't want to pay over the odds for something without a doubt. Auto trader Values cars differently to everyone else they go what's available, in specific areas etc rather than a price for a specific car regardless of availability and location.
Just don't want it miss out on what seems to be the ideal car.

I would say go for it i had the same conudrum last year and missed out on a car through messing about too much and eneded up paying the same price for a slightly less specced car.
If your seeing the same car with the same mileage and price on autotrader else where then your not going to lose anything by buying the local one.
Obviously only get the car if it ticks all the right boxes.

Now this one has been for sale for months and I reckon it's due to the outstanding finance ( puts buyers off)

WBAC £7250. I be asking how much outstanding finance is on the car and make an offer accordingly, I reckon you could get that for around £8k -£8.5k outstanding finance dependent off course. Knowing the finance figure may help get you a good deal

WBAC value £8k ,owner is asking £9295 , I can see a deal being done around £8500-£8600

Doesn't tick your color choice but it's a lot more car for your money, 20k mile less too

Glasse and cap are for the trade which means they never give you what is worth hence the word guide for the trade,to find a mint car right spec low miles you I'll go along way but 9 times out of 10 you will pay that bit extra for the right mint car they are normally cheap for a reason hence high miles or tatty but a mint car with low miles will always sell and fetch that bit more money plus if you think it's the one for you buy it

The blue one for 8450 with 49700 miles.
I went to view, seller met me and drove me to where it was which all seemed suspicious. Car was painted on both rear quarters with over spray in the shuts. Might be a good car but all these things told me to keep looking.

Didn't seem right so walked away! So if you go to view don't just fall in love and buy any thing have a proper look over it.

To be fair might still be worth you looking as I might have been over fussy as I'm in no rush etc.
It's not unusual for a car to have paint. Take your dad with you if he's in the trade he will be on the ball I'd imagine mate. You might end up getting it at the right price.

I had the same dilemma as yourself last July. Not a Cupra but an FR.
It was at a garage I knew to be very customer orientated as I bought my Octy vRS from them a few years ago and the car and the service was top notch.
My FR was priced quite high tbh but I knew that it was a rare find.
Slightly higher than average mileage but only 1 owner with FSH and injector work done (PD170)
The price included:
Full service at £200
12 months tax
Refurbed wheels
Full valet and detailing work (very very good)
4 virtually new Sportmaxx tyres
New front fog lamp
New jacking cover including painting
3 years ultimate gold standard warranty (yes 3)
Plus I knew the spec was very high indeed and I haven't seen another quite like mine in a year of ownership.

I knew if I didn't buy it, it would go quickly. So I bought it. Did I pay a little over the odds? Possibly, but I love the car and and I've had several £000s out of the warranty for A/C condensor and compressor so I have had my moneys worth there.

If a car stands out I personally think it's worth a little over buck but that's just me.
