I've read this before, however i firmly believe the MTECs provide better visibility than the standard bulbs, but not as good as the nightbreaker plus'.

However, for standard town driving they do the job extremely well, chances are if youre out on a country road and can't see, you would put full beam on anyway, no matter what bulbs you have in!
Maybe thats just me... For £13, its gotta be worth a pop at them!
Most of the time on unlit roads there are other vehicles coming towards you or driving in front of you which means my dipped beams are on most of the time and I found that the MTEC's lit the road up less than standard bulbs, which is why they are now on a shelf in my garage gathering dust and where replaced by Bosch Pure Light bulbs which outperformed both Night Breakers and X-Treme vision in the 2010 Which test.

The Bosch Pure Lights are great bulbs for illuminating the road but not if you want the HID look.

I think that's why people go for the Nightbreakers or X-Treme vision ones, because they look whiter than a standard bulb and provide better light. You don't quite get the full HID look but at least you're safe!

Well as I started the thread I'd thought it best to let you know that I've gone for the Mtec ones. I'm after the whited lights and if I'm driving down a dark road I always put the full beam on so I'm sure I'll be fine!

There is 2 pictures of the standard bulbs and the Osram nightbreakers H7's. You can see that the Nightbreakers are brighter and a tad whiter but im going to go for a HID kit instead (or they MTEC bulbs as they do look great in pictures giving off a great white light). Dont get me wrong the Nightbreakers are great but i wanted somthing with a more of a white light.

oh mate they look yellowish.................

I will be honest, mine don't look that yellow.

If you put an LED sidelight in with them, they're obviously a bit yellow, but they're white compared to a normal sidelight.

They are a perfect match for the bluevision sidelights.

Well if it's any help I'm really pleased with the Mtec's as they are very white compared with the standard bulbs and they look good with the led side lights. As for seeing anything in the distance, I think they are fine and again much better than standard!

Mtecs all the way really nice crisp white light had them on car for around 2yrs now with no problems on dipped beam i have H1 H3 H7 Mtec 12v 100w Cosmos blue matched up with led sidelights, the main beam H1s are really bright perfect for those dark country lanes or roads with no street lighting i also looked at Nightbreakers etc but the colour against the sidelights was to yellowish in comparison.

Regarding the sidelight issue, I got Osram Nightbreaker Plus H1 bulbs in the high beam and Osram Cool Blue Intense in the sidelights and they are almost a perfect match.

I think you'll find the MTECs to not be bright enough.. If you do, buy a terminator kit from HIDs direct for £70.
