Has anyone on here got a Mk4 that is reaching 100k miles??

Just asking, as mine is coming up to 1 year old (Friday!) and he's got 27k under his belt now! I looked on Autotrader and there aren't any Mk4's on there with above 100k, but some nearing it on 02/52 plates!!

Was originally planning on keeping mine for 5 years, which will mean he'll have 130k give or take! Don't think he'll be worth very much then! :p.

I have done well over 130k in no less than 5 different crappy vauxall astra's (mk1 to mk5) at an average of 38k per year

so I would have thought a vag car would have no problems reaching the same or more

back in may/june time i looked at a 54 plate fr tdi with 84k on it, so there has to be plenty out there with that kinda mileage.
you may find that the people who have done that kind of mileage are keeping the cars so as not too incur a bigger loss of money.

My mileage isn't too high on my Ibiza it's 65K on a 52 Reg (Jan 2003).

I bought it in December last year with 47K in the clock which means I've done about 18K so far... I normally do between 20K-25K a year so in a couple of years mines will have a bit of a high mileage too.

My Mk2 Ibiza I bought when I was 18 - I bought it with 124K in the clock and it got in a smash a year later with 145K on the clock (Wrote it off unfortunately) - not once did it let me down and apart from a service and MOT (Which it failed only on a slack handbrake - easily fixed) all I done was change the cylinder head gasket.

That was an Mk2 Ibiza Estillo 1.4 8v! :) (Felt fast compared to my Mk3 Polo 1043cc!!) ;)

Mine had 80k on when I sold it at 3 years old, engine sounded & performed as good as new.

When I was looking for the Passat at the start of 2006, I saw a Mk4 TDI Sport with over 100k for sale, needless to say it was quite cheap!

i think the interior will have turned to dust by the time a PD engine pops it's clogs

which is probably about 90k if you think about the interior

Engine and gearbox should be fine in my opinion but the interior is another issue.
My PD Tdi Bora has just had it 90K mile service about 2 weeks ago, I read somewhere that a diesel engine is only worn in at about 80K miles, so if that is true at around 200k miles, I would start to worry and at the current of use, I am looking at 5 years time.

Whats the fuss? Cars are meant to be driven.
My FR tdi has just over 4k in 3 months.
Just enjoy driving the bloody things! ;)

I just can't seem to put any miles on my Ibiza - it's going to be 12 months old in January and it's still only got 7k miles on it! I suppose thats what happens with three cars in the family and only a 6 mile commute to work.

I'm not fussed, all my mates reckon I'm crazy, but that's why I bought an economical oil-burner, saves me the money on fuel, and keep going forever!! long-term fuel average is upto 54mpg now, certainly can't complain at that! :D It's just the 4 monthly services that hit the wallet a bit! :(

I've done 30,600 and I've had it brand new since June 2006. But to be fair, I've driven it to Brands Hatch 4 times, Thruxton twice and the rest of the UK circuits as well at least once.

I don't see what the fuss is about when people worry about high mileage. Apart from the servicing every 10,000 miles, if the car runs well, what's the problem? :)
