Got plenty of oil
Just drove it round the block though and it was driving absolutely fine, didn't feel like it was in limp mode like yesterday, and there was no black smoke that i could see. Then i got back and revved it up and my exhaust popped and the black smoke came out...

Hhmm i do think VAG COM is your best bet :(

Im sorry i cant help more than that

Dont you just love armchair mechanics.... black/dark smoke isnt oil.

White - water
Blue - oil
Black - fuel

Id pull the battery off, give it 10 mins to reset it self and then rag the living **** outa it for a few hours. Will probably solve your problem.

I beg to differ.

My Series two chucked out blue smoke when the seals on the turbo had gone on my T3. It only did it under boost when changing gear

At the powerstation rolling road a few weeks back a Rover with a pulsar turbo was chucking out black smoke on the rollers, turned out he had put too much oil in it so it was pushing oil back up the turbo to sump return pipe

He might have over filled it, but that wasnt causing the black smoke. Black smoke is excess fuel.

As for your s2.... the worlds greatest petrol oil buner!

I never had a problem with my Series 2 burning oil :)

Funny how the Rover stopped chucking out black smoke after he drained half a litre of oil isnt it ;)
