Hi, I have a seat Ibiza 2004 with 34k on the clock. The car belongs to my dad and it started giving problem a few months ago.
When he goes to take it out of the garage it would not start immediately but it would start after a few tries. Someone very smart gave told him that the fuel pump might be leaking and it could be the cause of bad quality of Diesel (this is in Malta).
So they told him to mix a bit of bio diesel because the diesel on the Island is thicker/not very good quality..so he did and it looks like it patched the problem for a few months but a few weeks ago it developed a different problem, the problem is while the engine is running and reaches normal temperature it stalls thus turns off then it would not start for 30min ish...looks like it would not start until it cools off.
We took the car to a friend of ours who is a qualified mechanic after inspecting it he found the fuel pump is leaking a good amount of fuel. He took out the fuel pump and suggested to try saving it by taking it to a garage (diesel specialist) to re seal it.
We did and when he put it back on, the problem remained and it’s giving the following fault code P1248.
It’s something to do with the diesel system..any ideas? I read in this forum already that it could be various things but I did not find any other posts with similar symptoms ie engine turns off after its wam (normal temp).
