Parcel Shelf straps

Hi everyone, not really sure what these are called but its the stringy, strap things that are attached to the parcel shelf so that when you open the boot, the parcel shelf lifts too. Apart from telling me what they really are called, does anyone know where i will get them from please and are they all the same or are they specific to each car. Thanks Faydan

Hi mate,

I'm presuming like mine, one of the "stringy things" have broken.
The only place I can think of is a main dealer.
I've got to go down to my nearest one tomorrow, so will ask and let you know how much.

Dont forget ther are two types, retracting and nonretracting (just a weight on string)!

Ah, will either kind fit on my 52 Leon or do I need one kind in particular. - First car you see, never really noticed these on cars before, wasn't until opening the boot when I realised the parcel shelf didn't lift up.

I think you need to examine the corners of your parcel shelf to see exactly what was there before. Also, the retracting type have a little collar that goes into the hole from above.

Cheers, I think I'm gonna find my nearest dealer and get them to check it out for me, even if I do run the risk of looking like some dumb woman who knows nothing about her car, but at least it'll be fixed properly - hopefully.
