Northants.
Hi everyone,

After reading the thred below I'am looking for some advice please on buying a PC from www.autopia-carcar.com as I'am new to such purchases!
I've already ordered all the stuff from screwfix.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=54694&highlight=shine

!. How do I ensure I dont pay import duty?
2. What is the discount code that 182blue mentions (is it ABC!) and when is it required?
3. Would the Sonus DAS Polisher Kit at $189 be a good choice?
4. Which would be better - extra 6" DAS Pads or or Extra 4" (with appropriate backing disk).
5. What else should I get - should I order some products from them also?
6. I want to adopt a soffly softly approach to products at the begining - any suggestions?

Any help would be much appreciated!

svenster have a searchy here, not that long ago someone posted a link to a place here in the uk that sells the porter cable stuff, you still need a 110-240v convertor but you wont get stung twice by royalmail/parcelforce with import duty and second delivery charges.

Although you can get the PC from the UK I don't think it actually works out much cheaper than from autopia as they'll mark the package so they don't usually get caught for the import duty.

Also the Sonus pad kits don't seem to be available in the UK so it might just be worth getting all from the one place.

for a discount code sign up for the newsletter on autopia and they send them out, a different one each time for different offers.

I dont think ABC one works anymore. or you could pm 182blue and see if he has an up to date one.

autopia will throw in stuff free if you order from them and it does work out cheaper.

also i would buy a few extra pads as you will need more than one of the finishing ones if you are doing a selant then a wax on top.

Dont order from Motorgeek, they are based in america, and you'll pay the import with them, not like autopia.

PS. I know this is an old thread, but worth advising people of this.

You can get the Sonus Pads in the Uk from www.CleanYourCar.co.uk

I'd recommend getting the SFX pads over the DAS ones, i've got both and much prefer the SFX pads they seem to last abit longer and easier to control.

I would order more of the White SFX polishing pads as you will find they are most commonly used, over the buffing and cutting pads.

May i also suggest getting some 4" spot pads and backing plate as well, very handy for hard to reach areas.

Also i have the Autopia Discount if your interested, last time i checked it was still active and for 15% :)

As for products you can't get it from autopia but the Menzerna Final Finish Polish is a great beginners polish, it's not got a really aggressive cut so you can't do any major damage with it, it's got enouugh bite to remove swirls but not deeper scratches, and leaves one of the best finishes around so will boost your confidence.

Autogeek is based in America, Motorgeek is in Yorkshire. Speak to Ron the owner, he is a top lad!

OR just buy a silverline rotary polisher for 35 quid, uses many of the available heads/pads also and is speed adjustable, looks just like the pc too, you just have to be a little more careful not to turn the speed up too hight or lean too heavy as it does the job faster than the pc.
