PCMCIA Serial Card for VAG-COM

will I be ok to get a serial card adaptor plug in doodah for my laptop and plug a serial VAG-COM cable into it?

Also, if the above is possible, can someone please point me in the direction of a serial cable that WILL work with a 54plate LCR, as I'm having a lot of touble trying to figure what will and what wont work.

It should work, but I think there's a list of the cards that work on the Ross-tech site somewhere. Do you have a usb port on your laptop anywhere? If so there's a USB version of the cable on the site as well.

Yes, the RS232 PCMCIA card should work - I use one.

Am assuming I cant use the latest version (512?) with this cable.

4.09 is correct and will do all you want.

Erm - looking back at my last post, I should add you'll need to buy a Ross-Tech licence to do MOST things you need......

The free version just shows fault codes but doesnt allow clearing or logging or changes to be made is that correct?
