Hi guys been reading up about the pcv catch can mod.

Wanted to know which is better, to vent to atmosphere or back into the tip?

I've bought an eBay universal catch tank so will be using that.

Thanks in advance

Mine currently goes to the tip. It's best to vent it to atmosphere so that it can't contaminate your charge air. Make sure you run a long enough hose that the gasses escape under the car and not in the engine bay otherwise they'll get into the ventilation system.

And sorry last question what hose did you use? I know it has to be 19mm. Could you post a link or pic so I can try find the same hose.

Thanks

The baffle is to stop water/chemicals being ingested through the tip. You don't need one if you're venting to atmosphere. You don't really need one in any case.

You need wire reinforced silicone vacuum hose, or 19mm id rubber heater hose which is cheaper. I went for the more expensive option: http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/si...nforced-hose-19mm-choose-from-15-colours.html

You'll also need hose clamps, a 19mm od T-piece and a 19mm od L-piece, and finally a 19mm blanking plug for the hockey puck hole on the TIP.

Thanks for that

So what happens to all the oil from the 90 degree bend pipe?

And why didn't you just T the rocker cover pipe and the 90 degree pipe?

Ok got it. So the pipe coming from the pcv 90 bend on top of the oil cooler thing, that T's to the rocker cover and they both get vented?

No, both of them T into the catch can. The outlet hose comes out of the catch can and vents under the car. You can vent them without a can but its not very environmentally friendly. Your choice though.

Thanks. Gona start it at the weekend.

My temp gauge was acting up, never over hearing but always up and down below 90, read it could be a thermostat replacement so for £7.20 I'm going to change that as I'm down there, bought a new dpi stick as well mine is cracked, so as I'm doing the pcv thought I'd get all the parts ready for that area job.

Btw the coolant water is returning fine into the bottle so the water pump seems fine ATM, may change the temp sensor if thermostat don't solve issue.

Back on topic lol anything else to improve the car? You know engine wise?

I've done the n249 mod, install a forge tip with s2000 filter, gona do the £1.50 shorten gear linkage mod, and now the pcv. Anything I missed?

What's new sparks spark plugs? And what's a phenolic spacer?

Yeh s3 brace on my look out list, I've lowered it spaced it out 20mm. I'll get a readers ride up soon lol but I've nearly finished all my mods I wanted tbh lol
