Right, Due getting a 2002 PD 130 on friday.
What im asking is, is a bigger turbo always better?
Would a big non hybrid turbo be better then a smaller hybrid?

I had a look on ebay for "hybrid turbo" and they mainly seem to be T3/T4 turbos, would this be a straight fit? why so cheap compared to ko3s hybrid's?

Thanks in advance, just ripping my hair out trying to get my head round it all

You may well need to change the manifold/MAF etc for bigger turbo's. Also, the bigger the turbo, generally the more prone to lag it is. Hence why when you see big power Supras etc, they are rapid, but have epic lag....goto youtube and search for Supra from hell to see what I mean lol

Probably best buying one with a manifold to suit then... Or I'll be going custom like i think i am with an exhaust, know someone who makes exhausts so hopefully he can do manifolds.
The maf... just use one for that specific turbo?

Man that's ace, he must be using some BIG turbo and intercooler.

I guess so, I k now a lot of ppl use LCR MAFs when putting hybrids on.

Yeah taht Supra is mint but the lag is crazy..I think the guy in the lambo owns both cars tbh, but still, shows what can be done with money and the know how.

brilliant thanks man, been looking at all sorts of turbos, really am just tempted to find a scrapped bmw x5 and nicking the turbo off that or something.

Nothings ever easy or cheap haha!

most people go witha PD150 turbo of a golf hybrid that and the turbo will hold 240bhp easy i belive some of the lads i no have them but they wantin more power thats when it starts costin a hell of a lot.if you search for a lad on hear called tom. hes got a 5 door running in 240s.its in the pic below a real sleeper

I don't see much point going bt. With that much torque you won't be able to get the power down because the wheels will be spinning. I've only got a remap on my cupra tdi and in the damp it will spin it's wheels in 3rd without trying

ok so really im aiming for around 240bhp? and whatever torque the clutch can take (thinking of going paddle with single mass flywheel)

yea LSD, but won't this cause understeer in the wet?

well money wise, the most expensive thing will be clutch and flywheel kit (may fit it myself)
coilovers
and most of all, whatever i decide to do regarding the turbo...
really don't want to be having to get a custom manifold...

But intercooler you can do very cheap if you go universal as apposed to specific seat kits
Will only be having one remap when all the parts are on
Exhaust, was thinking universal backbox, then making a custom 2.5" exhaust... might be too loud with no silencer?

if you really don't want any type of custom manifold then you're not going to get a "big" turbo, your only option on any of the 1.9 PD engines would be a regular hybrid turbo along the lines of a stage 2 PD150 hybrid. I've found an LSD can cause understeer in the wet if you get it a proper boot full from a standing start, everywhere else it's a massive improvement.

location seems to be a pity, Unit18 would do a hybrid turbo fitted and mapped from about a grand

Ah that sucks!
What about the Leon mk2 170 turbo?

LSD it is! can't seem to find much info about them though. Where did you get yours?

And yea, will have to trawl forums for a secondhand hybrid.
