Pedal box broken!

On saturday i got in my car and pressed to clutch before i started it, The clutch made a loud clunk and hit the floor, i thought the clutch pedal had snapped again but the brake had raised about 3-4 inches about normal height!

Anyone else had this?

Im going to try and solve it now

Probably around 60% of Mk3 owners on here have had this happen.

its ok ive sorted it, just removed the fly-by-wire motor thing to get into it, the hardest bit was turning myself back round after getting my head stuck under my clutch pedal

So you've had the clutch pedal snap before if im correct?
is there any problem with the clutch pedal or just the brake pedal has raised?

yet it snapped on the previous owner, but the bar that goes through both pedals that they pivot off had come out of the brake pedal, so just a case of putting it back in and putting a new clip on the end

hi, mine went last week when i was on my way to pick up girlfriend from the train station. i thought it was my cable that snapped again but when the RAC guy showed me, i thought foook me i got another big job coming up cos only just got car back the week before from some engine work. is it me or do other people find that there clutch is bit heavy and stiffer than most cars?

i think the clutch is fine, far better than my 1400 that was The worst clutch in the world,

yeh i had a clip that i didnt know where it was from till i saw there wasnt one on the end of the bar.

i will get a pic for you later on and post it up.

hi this happened to me about a week ago when i went 2 put my clutch in! i havent had a chance to have a proper look at it but from what i seen there was a rod coming through the bulkhead and the padal with a white clip on it, and this has popped out! only thing is that i cant pull the pedal back up!!! any1 got any idea whats up? cheers

My pedeal box completly smashed last week and i had it replaced with a brand new one from seat. Now last night on my way home from work there was a loud clank as i changed gear and i think that the clutch has gone now completly or could it be anything else?
Clutch bearing?

Its a common problem on Lupo's and Polo's too. Apparently the welds holding the boxes on just break.
