How would the 2 fair against one another,

Reason for asking is my cars a generic mapped stage 2 LCR with all the goodies, Including a 3" Turbo back exhaust with NO cat No boxes,

Other is a Cupra with just a 007p and Revo1...

We have compared cars performance, And my car can only manage a few lengths, possibly 5.....

I dont intend this to be any kind of street racing thread, But is that normal?

My car feels VERY strong at present, Not had it RR'd but would expect 280bhp..

So it's a Cupra mk1 your putting your R up against right?

They make around 210bhp if healthy IIRC. Torque will be high though, I think it is closer than people think upto a certain speed. But it depends what speeds you reach really!

Was this one run or over many you've concluded it's 3-5 car length difference between the two?

I raced Terry at pod and there was 2 seconds in it I think on the 1/4 mile we did spend 1st and 2nd spinning tho :p lol

Must be car lengths Sam. That's how this sort of thing usually gets judged.

If it was one run the Cupra probably had a better start than the R. What's the torque on a healthy Cupra MK1 stage one Sam?

Stage 2 LCR is around 300 lb/ft.

Stage one Cupra you looking at about 230-250 also comes down to driver :p lol

Well I was going to get onto that it could be the driver also..

Not bad torque for stage one Cupra that.

Mines only 244 well was last RR but we all know how pants mine is :cartman:

Now I think about it stage one Cupra is more like 210-230 lbft  sorry :D

Oh in that case the Cupra will get owned! ;)

(waits for the MK1 stage one Cupra owners to bite!) :bleh:

Thanks for replies guys,

His cars certainly a healthy one, And traction for me is a big issue!

But it was over 2 tests (on track :)) and upto for me nearing top of 5th gear,

I am very surprised at the difficulty of shaking off a stage 1 LC! - Very tasty indeed,

Il have to go BT next to do some real damage I think..

Real world difference is a lot less than you'd think based on numbers TBH and without knowing what your car is really running it's hard to judge. Some Cupra R's make 300lb/ft, others make 260lb/ft at Stage 2, it's down to mapping and I am sure that each 1.8T is different than the next. If you're running similar torque then the only way you'd be pulling away would be more towards the top end.

The LC also weighs about 70kg's less than the LCR, then there's also driver weight to consider. I've heard that the rear seats in the LCR weigh around 50kg, try taking them out and see if things improve perhaps. The spare wheel and tyre also weigh about 21kg combined.

Gulp,...

Seats were out & spare! Didnt bother putting them back in since the last trackday!, Oh and FYI the seats do weigh about that, makes a difference for sure,

I noticed the gap being more so up top end definately, Il never get to try it out, but it was pulling through top of 5th alot..

 true not a problem for me ATM I've not gone over 40 for about 2 weeks :( lol bloody CV joint  but I've only drove 3 times in those two weeks ;) anyway Jay makes very good point on weight etc and also the difference in maps for example Revo are pretty aggressive and torquey but the something custom code could be mor power less torque or visa versa then you also got bushes to conside DBM and othe engine mounts they always help :D

Well if they really do weigh that much then that's another job for this weekend :).

Just something else to add into it is that the k03s is a smaller turbo, thus giving earlier spool and power lower in the rev range which will help. My personal experience with a Stage 2 Ibiza Cupra (k03s upgrade) at 240bhp vs my Stage 1 LCR was that gears 2nd through early 4th allowed it to make a little distance however 4th up top & 5th saw the K04/higher BHP reign it in again but there's a big lesson to learn with the Ibiza...it's around 200kg lighter than the LCR.

To put it all into simple terms, to go twice as fast as a car with roughly the same weight, engine size & performance, you will need twice the power & torque.

Just thought tho terrys only stage 1

i love it, only stage one, and still beat your arse lol

im one of the lucky guys and have had a LC aswell as the LCR
my LC was (tuning wise) stage 1 mapped (mapper said it was a step above stage 1 but not a stage 2, more of a tweeked stage 1) and a few toys (i think its all in my RR first page)
Im sure as hell to this day it would beat my LCR off the line and to about 45mph
there is always a "quick one" in a batch though (from the mapper's mouth not mine lol)
i only had the chance of racing it once as it was stuffed the next day but i was left on the autobahn 40 to about 120mph untill i started to claw it back in, ok at the time the LCR was OEM but still a suprise to me and to my bro in law driving the LC.

when me and sam went down pod, it was a wet track, he span from the off 1st and 2nd, i span through 3rd too along with a bald tire lol
i managed to pip him on the lite, from about half way down the track sam was actually making ground and catching up
i did have my leathers in it at the time though, the front seats are atleast 23Kg heavier alone

the K03s is a tiny turbo and a strong one at the same time! it has next to no lag, my LC felt like a supercharger at the rite revs off the line, the K04 on the other hand has more lag than fek knows what.
