Apologies in advance for slight thread hijack!

I've been thinking about changing the suspension on my LCR, however I don't want to lower it as I already kill a LCR splitter about once every 3 months. Would a set of Koni FSDs and Eibachs lower it at all? Or are they height adjustable when fitting?

erm I think the Koni fsd's are fixed height aren't they?

coilies go from 35-65mm

but mine will only ever be running 35mm as that is plenty low enough...so why don't you go for the coilies?

I have read several times that the FSD and Eibach spring comb drops the car betewwen 5-15mm. Also surprisingly this does not lead to more splitter scuffing, infact the opposite, less.
I understand that this is due to the springs being stiffer and not allowing the car to drop underbraking and cornering etc.

why do you want to change ther suspension then, for ride quality?

the performance tuner journalist would say exactly that, because its a performance mag. If like jamie says he only wants them for shows etc then coilovers are perfect - decent height for the daily, then lowered for shows. If you are after performance from your suspension, then unless you are a pro at suspension there's no point. You just need to compromise if you want both, depending on how fussed you are with looks vs suitablility

Mixture of both I would say, looks and performance, and I know the KW's will offer this nicely

I think regarding your point about performance suspension - I guess thats in reference to the damper adjust etc, and I agree, too much hassle unless you are some track nut and know the perfect setup

for me its just fit, drive and play

I was running on Coilovers at about 20mm lower than OEM but had less scraping after lowering, this I believe was due to less nose diving under braking etc.

Strange but true.......

I was thinking more about speed bumps though, i.e. hitting them front on, which I tend to do now with one set in particular! I have to approach at an angle to get over them cleanly.

I want a sportier feel without compromising the ride quality too much as that's one of the reasons I chose the LCR - it's comfortable whilst also being fairly solid and planted at high speeds.

Gnollins ive got that setup and mine now and id say mine is only about 10-15mm on the front and about 20mm on the rear funnily and i hardly ever hit my splitter anymore. Agree with everyone that it must be due to the fact that the nose doesnt dive as much plus there isnt as much movement in the suspension when dropping off speed bumps.

My experience was it was better (scraped less) over speed bumps and multi storey car parks etc when lowered..........it's true honest

The damping was better with the new set up, crashing less through the bumps and pot holes

Less nose lift on acceleration, less nose dive under braking and less input from TCS etc

The only time that my car felt more uncomfortable that the standard car was a fast undulating section of A-road, over these camel humps the car felt a little choppy and you knew that car was riding on a stiffer set up.

Just to clarify things my car’s suspension is not harsh, in fact my wife noticed no difference from the standard set up. I do notice the difference but it’s a small compromise for the pay off in my opinion.
